Review: Dirty Ties by Pam Godwin

Revenge.
I race to finance it.
I evade to protect it.
I kill to attain it.
I planned everything.

Except her.
The alluring, curvaceous blonde at the finish line.
With sapphire eyes that cheat and lie.
Whose powerful family murdered mine.

I hate her.
I want her.

I know she’s hiding something.
But so am I.

4 Smoldering Stars!

Review by Jen Hagen

Are you tired of the cliché second-chance love stories?  Need a break from a rock star?  Want to ride on the wild side?  Then you will enjoy immersing yourself into Dirty Ties.  This is definitely a unique storyline that will pull you in from the first chapter.  I was so not expecting that scene!

Then he f*cked me the only way he could…with another man’s cock.

Kaci is a 37-year-old successful businesswoman married to her best friend, Collin, for 7 years.  They may be madly in love with each other, but it is strictly platonic…Collin is gay.  The only time Kaci is involved with Collin is when there is another man in the bed, and that involves strict investigation and a non-disclosure agreement to make sure that the involved party will keep their tryst in the sheets a secret.  Why does she stay in this relationship?  Blackmail.  And who is doing the blackmail?  Collin’s father.  Their families are as dysfunctional as they come.

Kaci is the only child of a successful media mogul couple.  Her father joined forces with his best friend to create Trenchant Media, the same media company that employs Collin as a straight right-wing TV correspondent.  His secret sexual orientation would kill the ratings along with their influential status.  The blackmail would destroy Collin’s life and a strict 21-page contract uniting Collin and Kaci in marriage was drawn up. The contract is very precise with lots of stipulations, including no cheating.  Any break in the contract and Collin’s career would be over and he would face the remainder of his life staring at 4 small walls.

Logan, aka “Evader,” is the current top rider in the illegal underground motorcycle circuit.  His name is given to him because nobody knows who he is or what he looks like underneath his high-tech helmet.  He has a hidden agenda to destroy Trenchant Media, a job his mother had begun when he was 13 years old.

My mother taught me how to ride, how to win, and when she died in a river of her blood, she taught me how to hate.

How better to bring down a company than to embed yourself directly into the company as its new CEO?  He has his own blackmail to use to make certain he gets the job.  Only problem is Kaci has also been promised the job for fulfilling her contractual marital obligations.  But don’t forget…there’s a cheating clause that will make the contract null and void.   Logan is sex on a stick…there is no way she can deny him.

I deserved one night.  One fuck-all, live-it-up, the-contract-doesn’t-exist-night.  Tonight, I intended to rock Logan’s world.

Logan quickly realizes that Kaci is not involved in the company’s illicit affairs and he feels bad for his betrayal.  Kaci and Logan have very explosive sexual chemistry…it is freaking HOT.  Logan doesn’t know the secret about Collin and believes that Kaci and Collin are married in every sense of the word.

“I don’t know what I’m saying here, knowing you’re married, and I don’t have a chance in hell.”  I stuffed that miserable notion into a tiny corner where it couldn’t distract me.  “But goddammit, Kaci, if you weren’t married, I’d fight for you.”  I rubbed my face, felt my jaw hardening beneath my hand.  “Fuck that.  I’m fighting for you anyway.”

Logan has never loved anybody so this is a new concept for him and it was enjoyable to see him pull out all the punches to fight for Kaci.   He has a plan to bring down Trenchant Media without jeopardizing any lives…something that was a foreign thought to him prior to loving Kaci.  He and Kaci are trying to find their happily ever after with each other, but there are a lot of decisions to be made before they can ride off into the sunset…or in their case ride off into the darkness of the night.  They have one last race before they can safely find their future together.

“I’m going to pass you at the finish line,” he said without distortion.  “But Kaci, I will follow you forever, and I will love you even longer.”

This was an erotic suspense that had my heart palpating with adrenaline.  It was a delightful escape from the usual genre I find myself reading.  I loved the nail-biting races waiting to see the outcome at the finish lines.  The cover combines all the fascinating attributes of Evader and I see a rush of leather and helmets being bought.   If I wasn’t such a scaredy cat, I’d buy myself a motorcycle, too.
