Blurb
Positive. With two little lines on a pregnancy test,
everything in Lizzy Rollins' ordinary life is about to change forever. And all
because of one big mistake in Vegas with Ben Nicholson, the irresistibly sexy
bass player for Stage Dive. So what if Ben's the only man she's ever met who
can make her feel completely safe, cherished, and out of control with desire at
the same time? Lizzy knows the gorgeous rock star isn't looking for anything
more permanent than a good time, no matter how much she wishes differently.
Ben knows Lizzy is off limits. Completely and utterly.
She's his best friend's little sister now, and no matter how hot the chemistry
is between them, no matter how sweet and sexy she is, he's not going to go
there. But when Ben is forced to keep the one girl he's always had a weakness
for out of trouble in Sin City, he quickly learns that what happens in Vegas,
doesn't always stay there. Now he and Lizzie are connected in the deepest way
possible...but will it lead to a connection of the heart?
5 Saved the best for Last Stars
Review by Natasha Gentile
I’ve followed this series since the
beginning. I was always in love with the
quiet Ben and I couldn’t wait for what kind of story he was going to get and I
for one wasn’t disappointed!
Lizzy Rollins life was quiet. It was right on track; she was attending PSU
college and her sister was marrying none other than Malcolm Ericson, drummer
for the rock group, Stage Dive. She was
invited to go watch one of their gigs.
Little did she know that her life would get knocked off its axis.
One of them stood a good
half a head taller then the rest, and the rest were not tiny. This guy must be a giant. And it’ll sound crazy, but there was just
something about the way he stood, the solidity of him. Mountains had never seemed so strong and
imposing. Big boots several feet apart
and a hand wrapped high around the neck of his bass guitar as if he might swing
it club style at any moment to subdue some stray bear. The thick width of his shoulders and the ink
on his muscular arms made my fingers itch with the need to explore. It couldn’t have been healthy, but I’m pretty
damn sure my heart skipped a beat. Every
inch of me vibrated with some sort of hyper, crazy sexual tension courtesy of
his presence. Never before had just the
sight of a man made me go so gaga.
I couldn’t look away.
Ahh, nothing better than a little
of sexual tension between two people who aren’t allowed to look at the
other. Since she is Mal’s younger sister-in-law, she is off limits
to Ben.
So what does one do, well I was
thrilled to see Lizzy take the bull by it’s horns and actually pursue Ben. That’s right people he becomes the hunted and
she, my friends, is the hunter.
It actually starts out very
innocently. A simple text message between friends. A text message that leads to text
conversations, daily. She knows that Ben
isn’t going to bite the bullet. He makes
it very clear that nothing will ever happen between them. If it’s a friend that you need, then that is
what he would be, but he couldn’t let it go further. He just couldn’t do it to Mal. It was like a guy code; apparently you
aren’t allowed to date a younger sister…EVER.
Well except for that one time in Vegas.
You know they say what happens in
Vegas…sometimes things don’t just stay in Vegas.
Vegas…sometimes things don’t just stay in Vegas.
Shocked would be an understatement
of the year. Their news is a shock to not only Lizzy and Ben, but to
everyone in the band. They question who,
what, why, how, where? So now not only
do they have to decide how to proceed it seems everyone wants to be in on
it.
So now that the cat is out of the
bag, only one thing left for Lizzy and that is to go on tour with the
band. It’s the obvious decision, since
all her family will be there and then Ben can keep an eye on her.
Sounds simple enough right, except
it’s Ben. Well Ben, doesn’t really get
his priorities straight. He thinks she
will just be there, just by asking her questions it’s ok. But it’s not.
It’s not what she wants. She
wants more.
“We’re very polite. We’re always texting, he checks on m
constantly, and if I need him he’s there. But… I don’t know. It’s not like we’re really saying
anything. We share the same space but
we’re living at a distance. He does his
thing, I do mine. He gets up and goes,
comes back in the early hours after drinking here with these guys.”
Oh Ben, Ben, Ben. Ben he just wants to jam, he wants to meet up
with his friends and do the stuff he has always done, he doesn’t think he needs
to change. He goes hot and cold, he wants her, but can’t admit it so as soon as
it gets to intense he showers in ice cold water, leaving her to guess if he
just doesn’t want her. But that all
changes when someone does notice her.
Someone that wants to sit down with her and talk. But you know how you get with your toys, you
never want to share, and Ben isn’t that different.
“Ben I don’t want to take
your freedom. I just want a place in
your world. An important one.”
He craned his neck, tipping
my chin up to make me look at him at the same time.
“Sweetheart, you’ve been
important since day one. Only girl I
kept coming back to. Didn’t matter how
far I ran, I couldn’t get you off my mind.
Never been this way about another woman.”
So he starts to change, starts to
put her first and more importantly himself and his happiness, because she makes
him happy. But with every love story you
have to have a thorn in their side and it’s none other than his sister, who we
thought was hiding under a rock. Seems
that news travels and it travels fast, and Martha is there to make sure that
she is never away from Ben and his fortune.
Lizzy has fought tooth and nail to
be that one person that protects Ben.
She has fought to make sure that she is in a place of his life, she is
just tired of being the one always fighting.
It’s time for Ben to fight. Fight
for her, fight for his happiness, but how deep will his fight go, and will he
be able to have the family he has always wanted?
Excerpt #1
“C’mon. How have you been, really? What’s been going on
with you?” he pushed. I frowned at him and he frowned right back. “Liz,
please.”
I groaned in defeat. “All right, I suck.”
“Why do you suck?”
“So very many reasons.” I pushed my hair back from my face—no
more hiding. “Pregnancy sucks. It’s natural, my ass. I finally stop throwing
up, but I’m tired all the time. Giving up coffee was horrendous. None of my
clothes fit right because of these stupid breasts, and they ache constantly. I
have to pee like every thirty seconds, and then to top it off, I cry every time
the Healthy Hound ad comes on. It’s ridiculous”
Little wrinkles appeared either side of his nose. “You cry
at a dog food ad?”
“Yes. The puppies jump all over each other to get to their
mother and it’s just so beautiful, with their cute little tails wagging and
everything.”
He just stared at me.
“I know its psycho, Ben. Believe me, I’m well aware of
this.”
“Hey, it’s fine.” He covered a smile with his hand. Too
late, the bastard.
“You try dealing with all these hormones going apeshit.
Crap. Apeshoot.”
“Apeshoot?”
“I’m trying not to swear,” I explained. “You want the
first word our child comes out with to be something bad?”
“No. Gotcha.” The man was incredibly bad at hiding a grin.
“No swearing.”
