She upholds the law. He breaks it.
Two blue hearts, both alike in bravery
In not-so-fair London, where we lay our scene
From gun crime to petty theft
Where family is blood and survival makes hands unclean
In this place, we find two hearts who should be foes
And yet, amidst the turmoil their love still grows
Misadventure abounds and the divide will bring them strife
But with luck, death doesn’t always mean an end to life.
Hearts of Blue is a standalone contemporary romance that tells the story of star-crossed lovers Karla Sheehan and Lee Cross, a police constable and the thief who steals her heart.
4.5 star Review by Jen Skewes
A great book is a book that you cannot put down once you
start reading it. It is a book that
captivates you from the very start. It
makes you fall in love with the characters and feel with them. It leaves you with a book hangover and still
thinking of the characters the next day.
After reading Hearts of Blue by LH Cosway I can tell you that this book
has all of the above. It is no surprise
really. I love everything that I have
read by this author. She knows how to
write beautiful stories about unique individuals. They are stories that are different from what
I usually read. HOB is a forbidden
romance, which yes it something we all love and have read before. But this one is still different in it’s own
way.
Karla is a police officer who is very dedicated to her
job. Lee Cross is a thief is will do
what it takes to protect and provide for his family. They are both on opposite ends of the law but
neither one of them can deny the attraction and chemistry that they feel when
they are near each other. As much as
Karla knows she should stay away he is always in her thoughts. And Lee will do what he can to prove just how
much they belong together.
Lee Cross is a thief, but a thief with a huge heart. His family is everything to him. When he was a teenager he was left in a
position where he had no choice. And
this is part of what draws him to Karla even more. She sees that deep down he really is a good
guy who loves his family. While she may
not agree with his choices in life she knows that he had his family’s best
interest at heart. She also sees how much he loved them and will do anything for
them. Karla feels the connection that
they have but given her position she is not sure being with him is the right
thing to do. It has the potential to
destroy her and her career. But
sometimes the heart wants what the heart wants and staying away from Lee Cross
is not as easy as it seems. When lines
are crossed you have to ask, can a thief and a police officer really make this
work? Will there come a point where one
will make a choice between work and love?
Hmmmmm, you will have to read to find out.
There is just something about Lee Cross that I loved. I don’t know if it was the fact that he had a
good heart and down deep down was a good guy, or was it his sexiness and dirty talk
that got me? Either way I loved the guy
and at times found myself smiling at the thing he would say. I loved his flirtatious moments with Snap
(his nickname for Karla). But I also
loved the sexy and sweet moments as well.
I loved how much he loved his family and wanted to protect them. While his means of providing for them may not
have been the best, seeing it from his side of the story you begin to
understand his decisions and motives and you cannot help but love him for
it. Regardless of how wrong it is.
Karla was very dedicated to her job and helping people, no
matter who they were. I felt how much
she wanted Lee but was so conflicted on her feelings for him, which I
completely understand. Being a police
officer and falling for a thief puts you in one hell of a bad situation. Especially when dealing with the Cross
family. But being with Karla made Lee want to be a better person, to finally be
able to walk on the right side of the law.
But unfortunately there are still prices to pay and obstacles to cross
before these two can truly be together and be happy.
I always look forward to LH Cosway’s books. She creates such amazing, unique, beautiful
and loving characters. Karla and Lee
fit so well together. You have to ask
how can thee two even be together. How
can someone who is on the right side of the law and never one to even stray be
able to make with work with someone like Lee? But Ms. Cosway made it work. And
she made it work in a way that you were rooting for the two of them the entire time. I felt the connection between them. I loved the moments when they were together. I wanted them to make it work, for them to
find a way no matter what. Because they
were just so perfect together, and because you felt the love between them and
you saw how much they cared.
I cannot write this reiew without mentioning Lee’s
family. I didn’t just fall in love with
Lee Cross, I fell in love with his entire Cross family. I specifically have this thing for Trevor
and cannot wait for his story. Once
again LH Cosway has created another unique and beautiful story about love
between two people that come from completely opposite worlds. But yet somehow they find their way into each
other’s hearts. I did not want to put
this book down from the moment thtat I started reading it. And when it was all over I did not want to
let go of Lee and Snap. Another aming
