Blurb

Perfect ass.
Perfect arms.
Perfect swagger.

They call Dash Wallace the Diamond King.
He’s the hottest commodity in baseball and in the bedroom.
When he runs the bases, every woman’s eyes are glued to his stunning body and a smile that puts the night lights to shame.
I’m no queen. I’m a regular girl with a regular job. I just watch him on TV and from the bleachers, season after season.

Girls like me grab a guy like that one in a million times.
My number just came up, and he is as spectacular in bed as he is on the field.
But there’s not a woman in the world who can distract Dash Wallace from the game. Not for a moment. Not even me.
Until the night I do. And everything changes.

Hardball is a SMOKING HOT, SEXY romance with a touch of angst and a ton of heart from CD Reiss. It's a fun, witty, full-length standalone meant for the over-eighteen crowd.

MEET DASH WALLACE

4.5 Stars
Review by Lisa Kane

I went into this story thinking that this would be a sports romance about a cocky, arrogant, womanizing baseball player. Don't get me wrong -Dashiell Wallace is a little bit of all of those things, but he is not a showman. He does not like to be in the public's eye and never does on camera interviews. But not because he is arrogant. He just may be the best player on the Dodgers baseball team, but he lets his game do the talking.

Vivian Foster has her first encounter with Dash when she takes her third grade class to a Dodgers outing for under privileged kids. She gets his autograph for the birthday baseball she is giving to her dad. He gets a little smart with her and they have a few words with each other. More like Viv is putting Dash in his place. But in the course of the chaos, Dash's glove went missing along with his good luck pin.

"Thank you. If it was too much trouble to sign without an insult, you shouldn't have bothered. My dad probably wouldn't notice it was missing."

He finds out who Viv is and pays the librarian a visit to find out about his glove. She is setting up her desk, putting fresh apples in a bowl. She likes to make sure the kids have a healthy snack. She will forever be known as Sweetapple by Dash. Viv feels horrible when he explains why he cares so much about the missing pin.

It's obvious both are interested in each other, but Dash is a guy who must have absolute control over his life. Each city has a different woman, for a different reason. Each day is structured and pre planned. To differentiate is to court disaster and bad luck. I had no idea there was so much superstition in baseball.

Viv just got our of a long term relationship with a bland, predictable guy.

Carl hadn't been a bad sort. There was nothing technically wrong with him. He wasn't scary or arrogant. Wasn't too confidant. Just an approachable, low-key guy who didn't shine too bright or demand too much.

She is not the type to do a temporary, have sex, have fun while it last thing with Dash. He is only looking for that. He can't change his lifestyle or he will invite disaster. How can any good come from this?

"I'm sorry, I don't like expiration dates. I'm not saying I want more from you or anything like that, but it's too risky for me. The whole thing."

I loved this book! There were more than a few times I wanted to knock Dash up the side of his head. Here's a beautiful, smart, witty girl willing to take on all your crazy and you can't get your head out of your butt. But Viv is special and I knew Dash would eventually come to realize chances like this, especially with the fickle public he is surrounded by, do not just come your way.

"Things last until they don't."This story had great secondary characters- Viv's stepdad is a gem, her best friend Francine is loyal and true and even her ex, Carl has lots of layers. This was my first read from CD Reiss, but I am going to check out her other works, since I loved this one so much.

"I saw a life in front of me where I couldn't love you, and I knew I'd never be happy again."

Author Bio

CD Reiss is a USA Today bestseller. She still has to chop wood and carry water, which was buried in the fine print. Her lawyer is working it out with God but in the meantime, if you call and she doesn't pick up she's at the well hauling buckets.

Born in New York City, she moved to Hollywood, California to get her master's degree in screenwriting from USC. In case you want to know, that went nowhere but it did give her a big enough ego to write novels.

She's frequently referred to as the Shakespeare of Smut which is flattering but hasn't ever gotten her out of chopping that cord of wood.

If you meet her in person, you should call her Christine.
