A Face in the Crowd by Christina Kirby

Alexis Hightower considers trust a four-letter word, and she has no intention of getting serious with anyone. After all, her day job as a nurse is plenty serious enough. On one of her nights off, she attends a concert for her favorite band and ends up on stage. She never expected to meet the legendary singer in person or that he would be the one to make her question her way of life. But how do you learn to trust again when the one you want is desired by thousands?

Oliver Honeycutt has it all, success, fame, admirers, but when his family is faced with the unthinkable, none of it matters. Stranded in Atlanta, he meets Alexis, who’s unlike any woman he’s known before. As his attraction grows, plans for the future change, which leaves someone desperate to keep them apart. But Oliver won’t be easily discouraged. To have a future with Alexis, he’ll do whatever it takes to make her see the man behind the image.

Review by Jen Skewes

I really loved this book. It was a rock star romance but with a different twist which is what I loved.  For me it a unique storyline when it comes to a rock star romance.

Lexie is a nurse who works long hard hours but loves her job.  She has a good life, that includes a great job, a best friend, Simone, who is always there for her and their mutual love of the band Survival of the Fittest.  They have been fans of theirs since before they became famous.  Her and Simone go to see them play and to her surprise is pulled up on stage to dance wih Oliver Honeycutt, the sexy lead singer.  The day after attending their concert she is shocked to see that Bailey, one of the band's members is her new patient. And to then find out that due to him being ill, Bailey and his brother Oliver will have to stay in Town for a while.

Lexie is continually assigned as Baileys nurse. So of course she becomes close with him and his brother and becomes a great support system for them as well. But this is the part of the story that I loved and thought was different.  It wasn't Bailey, her patient, that she had a connection with.   It was his brother Oliver.  From the moment he met her he felt it. He wanted to know everything about her.  As much as Lexie felt that same connection she was afraid to give into her feelings.  She has issues where trust is concerned and she also knows that once Bailey is better they will both be on the next plane back to LA.

Oliver is not one to give up though.  He feels something for her.  She in unlike anyone he has ever been with and that's why he is drawn to her.  Over time can Oliver break her walls down and make her see how good they can be together?

Oliver was nothing like I expected him to be.  And maybe I expected that stereo typical rock star. But he was anything but.  He was kind, caring, and completely swoon worthy.  I love the slow build to their relationship and how he continued to purse her, not giving up because he knew the connection between them was real.

Lexie was a great at character.  She took care of not only Bailey but Oliver as well.  She was there for the both of them during this hard time.  She became a part of their little circle but that was also the things that scared her the most.  What would happen when Bailey was able to leave and go home.  Afraid to give her heart to a man who had the ability to crush it.

The connection between Oliver and Lexie was real and you felt it from the moment they met. While it was only a few months that they knew each other it wasn't insta love at all.  It felt like they took their time and that's what made it feel real and what I loved about it.  Lexie proceeded with caution while Oliver did everything he could to take it slow but also show her how much he wanted to know her, to be with her.  I love the two of them together.

The supporting characters were such a wonderful addition to this story.  I loved Bailey and really hope he gets his own book story.  He had such a sweet relationship with Lexie that I loved.  And then there was her best friend Simone who was the perfect best friend. I loved their relationship.

This is the first book I have read by this author but it won't be my last.  I hope we get to see more of the characters from this book that I fell in love with.
