My world was rock solid.
Until I saw her.
Lara Kessler showed up as if heaven sent her to me, and suddenly my priorities changed. Love is funny like that. One minute you’re living the dream, then BAM! Half my soul shows up backstage wearing a purple shirt and sexy skin-tight jeans, making me realize what I’ve been missing all along. Loving her means exposing a life I’ve tried to bury.
My heart had lost its beat.
Until I saw him.
Kaz Fabian caught my attention the moment I laid eyes on him. Love is funny like that. The famous guitarist was every woman’s fantasy—great face, chiseled jaw, cut biceps. The rock star was pure sex on and off stage, but his charm and charisma won me over. Loving him means burdening him with a life I’ve tried to leave behind.
With her future dim and his past in the spotlight, can they overcome their fate or will they just be another tragic love story?
Review by Jen Skewes
I loved this book.
This has become a favorite series of mine and I could not wait for Kaz’s
story. He is so sexy, so sweet and
completely swoon worthy. And he may just
be my favorite member of The Resistance.
Lara and Kaz met about a year ago through a mutual
friend. When first meeting her, Kaz knew
there was something special about her and in the past year he has been thinking
about her. They have seen each
throughout the year but nothing more then just friends or maybe even
acquaintances. But after seeing her
again at one of his concerts with Rochelle he knows that he wants her and not
just in a physical way. But there is one
issue and that is Lara currently has a boyfriend, who is a big baseball star.
Lara’s relationship with Mark is one that she has been
questioning lately and not sure it is really going anywhere. She breaks it off with Mark and then finds
herself in Kaz’s bed not too long after.
Kaz and Lara have this connection, like they were meant to find there
way to each other. There is this ease
and comfort that she feels when she is with him. There is just one thing getting in their way,
a boyfriend who has yet to understand that they are broken up and one who is
not giving up. Unfortunately this part
of Lara’s life is a very difficult one and one that is not going to go away
very easily. But Kaz wants to be there
for her every step of the way, he wants to love her and protect her. But with Lara’s past relationship getting in
the way and the surprise twists that come their way, do these two have a shot
at happiness together.
I loved Kaz. He is in
no way your stereo-typical rock star. He
doesn’t have girls keeping him company every night. He is genuinely a really good guy who is in
love with this girl and wants to be able to love her in the way that she
deserves. He is sexy and sweet and so
swoon worthy that you will fall in love with him.
Lara was the perfect match for Kaz but at times there were
moments where I may have become a little frustrated with her. But at the same time I understood her. She was strong at times but she also had a
really big heart and maybe at times that was her problem when it came to
certain issues in her life. But overall
I really loved her and I loved watching her and Kaz fall hopelessly in love
with each other.
This book was a roller coaster ride filled with so many
emotions, twists and tuns that I did not see coming. Kaz has a past one that I was very surprised
to read about. This book is not just
about Lara’s past relationship and the baggage that she comes with. This is also about Kaz’s past and finally
having to deal with something that he tried to put behind him 10 years ago. I loved the friendships in this book, between
Kaz and his band mates to Lara and the girls.
They are all one big family and you can see that. You see just how much they all mean to each
other and love each other. This book
made me laugh, smile, and at times sad and angry. But that is what reading is all about, being
able to feel it all with the characters you fall in love with. And once again SL Scott made me feel. Loved this one and hoping to see Derrick get
his story very soon.
Meet S.L. Scott
New York Times and USA Bestselling Author, S. L. Scott, was always interested in the arts. She grew up painting, writing poetry and short stories, and willing her days away lost in a good book and the movies.
With a degree in Journalism, she continued her love of the written word by reading American authors like Salinger and Fitzgerald. She was intrigued by their flawed characters living in picture perfect worlds, but could still debate that the world those characters lived in were actually the flawed ones. This dynamic of leaving the reader invested in the words, inspired Scott to start writing with emotion while interjecting an underlying passion into her own stories.
Living in the capital of Texas with her family, Scott loves traveling and avocados, beaches, and cooking with her kids. She's obsessed with epic romances and loves a good plot twist. She dreams of seeing one of her own books made into a movie one day as well as returning to Europe. Her favorite color is blue, but she likens it more toward the sky than the emotion. Her home is filled with the welcoming symbol of the pineapple and finds surfing a challenge though she likes to think she's a pro.
