Review by Jen Skewes
I really enjoyed this book and the characters, but what I
loved about it was the storyline itself and how different it was. It is the story of a woman who is trying to
get redemption for the wrongs that happened in her life, the ones that she
balmes herself for. It is about second
chances, learning how to forgive yourself and move on.
Lissa has a tragic past that has left her alone with no one
to turn to. She completely blames
herself for what happened and therefore is still just living in the past, unable
to move on. One night she unexpectedly meets Dan and she starts to see the
light again. He is everything that you
would want in a man, hot, and sexy but loving and sweet. They connect instantly
and as they spend more time together Lissa finds herself falling for him
hard.
Dan happened to be in the wrong place at the right
time. He was looking for the wrong woman
and ended up meeting the perfect woman.
He instantly connected with Lissa, both physically and emotionally. They met and talked for hours not wanted the
night to end. It was as if they had
known each ther for years. Dan loved how
selfless and kind she was. Lissa lovee
how protective and caring he was. But
she was still hiding her past from him, afraid that once he found out she would
lose him. When is the right time to tell
him the truth? And when she does will he
go running?
Dan and Lissa were perfect together. They just fit like two perfect pieces of a
puzzle. I loved the banter between them
but most of all I just loved the way they loved each other. Over time the author goes back to the past,
unraveling piece by piece what happened that has caused Lissa to pick up and
start all over. I had some idea of who
the people were but I had no idea how it all happened. When that moment came when you saw the
tragedy that struck her life I hurt with her.
It is something that no one she ever have to experience but I think what
made it all worse was how the people around her, the ones that were supposed to
love her unconditionally, completely let her down. I felt so bad for her in those moments and
wished that things would be different.
But as time goes on you see that maybe things happen for a reason. Maybe Lissa is right where she is supposed to
be. She is helping someone out in a major
way, a way that is both selfless and kind.
And if her past never happened she wouldn’t be here. That is what made this story so special and
so real. It is what made this story so
unique as well.
As always the story is well written and the characters are
people that you will love. This story is
at times emotional but overall I think it was a n easy read with not too much
crazy drama or angst. Great job by Ms.
Walls.
