Blurb

I’m the right-hand man of the mafia king.
She’s a girl with a past she’s desperate to hide.

But I need something from her.
And I know she won’t help me. Not willingly.
She’ll need some persuading.

Lucky for her, I can do that.

Something about this girl makes me curious, though, and it’s more than
the scars that line her back. She’s on the edge of something.  Something bad. She’s like a perfect,
beautiful doll coming apart at the seams. And the last string is about to snap.

She thinks I’ll hurt her. Break her.
But thing is, she’s already broken. And she and I, we’re two peas in a
pod. She’s my match, the perfect opponent. She’ll fight me to the finish, but
I’ll win. I always do.

Because I’m a man used to getting what I want. And what I want is
her.

Review by Jen Skewes

Giovanni was a roller coaster ride filled with angst, drama, suspense, darkness, hurt and so much more.  It was everything that I love and expect from a Natasha Knight novel .   And as always she certainly delivered.  A hero that is so bad you should hate him but love anyway.  A feisty heroine who is strong and knows how to fight back.  And the story between the two of them that is dark and sexy all mixed into one.

Giovanni is looking for Alessandro Estrella and he goes to the one person who should know where he is, his twin sister Emilia. She has been in hiding for a few years now and swears that she knows nothing about his whereabouts.  Whether Giovanno believes her or not, it does not matter.  He is not letting her go.  Aside from the attraction he feels towards her, he knows that she is hiding something, that she has a story to tell and he wants to know what it is.  He may have went after her because he needs her, but as times goes on things between them take a turn that neither one of them expected.  She needs him in ways she doesn’t want to admit and in a way he needs and wants her just the same.  She may hate him but her body is telling a different story.  Can she truly trust Giovanni, not only with her life but her heart?

I love Ms. Knight’s writing and always love wen she has a new book.  I love the mafia books that are dark and sexy but not too over the top.  There is just the right amount of angst, drama and darkness.  I will admit that there were moments that were a little hard to take in, but Ms. Knight still wrote it in a way where she seems to know where to draw the line, so to speak.

I loved ths book and I loved Goiovannit and Emilia’s story even more.  My God Emilia has been threw so much.  I too knew she had a story to tell and was waiting patiently to find out exactly what it was.  And when her story did come out, you see the unthinkable happen and you want nothing more than to hug her.  What I think also got me the most was Giovanni’s reaction to it all.  He is a bad man who has done many questionable and bad things in his life but to see the protectiveness he has when it comes to Emilia, to see him hurt for her in his own way is one of the many reasons why I loved him.   He is a complete alpha males who likes to dominate and be in control, but you know and see deep down what Emilia means to him and that is what makes him someone that you can love.

This was another great dark mafia read by Ms. Knight.  I always look forward to her books and the emotions that she brings out, the bumpy ride that she puts me through.  It was the perfect mix of sexy and dark, and wonderfully written.
