Her Rebellion takes place exactly where the first book left off. We are left with a very broken Mercedes, recovering from the brutality that she suffered at the hands of Judge’s brother.
Judge will do everything in this power to take care of her and protect, even more so now. He knows that he can never be the man that she deserves or the man that she is destined to be with. But it doesn’t stop the feelings he gets when he even thinks of her with someone else. It obvious how he feels for Mercedes, even if he still hasn’t realized it, but he knows that he cannot give her what she wants and needs. The chemistry between them is palpable. The feelings that they have for each other is passionate and intense. But with so much in there way how they can possibly have a life together.
I never thought after reading The Society Trilogy that I could love Mercedes. I didn’t even think I could just like her. But after seeing all that she has been through and what she continues to go through, has completely opened up my heart. Her. She is feisty, sassy and independent but she is also very broken. And it seems that the world she lives in keeps breaking her over and over again. But despite all that she is so strong. But what I loved in this book was how vulnerable she has become. She has many doubts and makes rash decisions, doing her best to protect herself and her heart. But when it comes to the man who is in charge of her, the man who has her heart, even if neither one of them realize it, she can’t seem to let go.
Judge is still trying to understand the jealousy and rage that he feels when he thinks about Mercedes with another man. Maybe he does understand it but is too stubborn to admit it. He knows that h=no matter what he feels for her, that he will never marry and therefore it will never work between them. But regardless of how much Judge denies his feelings and continues to tell himself and Mercedes that they can never have a future together, that man loves her. He may be a bastard at times, rough and controlling but he has a heart. And In this book we saw just how much Mercedes De La Rosa means to him. It was a moment where I completely fell for this man and gained so much respect for him.
This book leaves us hanging once again, but I would not expect anything else. I think this one may have hit me even harder than the last. I need the final installment of this trilogy. So far this has been one heck of a ride filled with twists and turns, shocking moments, tears, smiles and everything else in between. This writing duo has once again captured me from the start, never wanting this series to end. And I know that the final installment will exceed my expectations, as they always do.
