From New York Times Bestselling Author, Penelope Ward, comes a new standalone novel.

Sharing a summer house with a hot-as-hell roommate should be a dream come true, right?

Not when it’s Justin…the only person I’d ever loved…who now hates me.

When my grandmother died and left me half of the house on Aquidneck Island, there was a catch: the other half would go to the boy she helped raise.

The same boy who turned into the teenager whose heart I broke years ago.

The same teenager who’s now a man with a hard body and a hardass personality to match.

I hadn’t seen him in years, and now we’re living together because neither one of us is willing to give up the house.

The worst part? He didn’t come alone.

I’d soon realize there’s a thin line between love and hate. I could see through that smug smile. Beneath it all…the boy is still there. So is our connection.

The problem is…now that I can’t have Justin, I’ve never wanted him more.

Author's note – RoomHate is a full-length standalone novel. Due to strong language and sexual content, this book is not intended for readers under the age of 18.

Synopsis
Damon Atwood was Hollywood’s golden boy. Having won an Oscar at the tender age of thirteen, he had the life many could only dream about. But his success came at a price, and after a short but fruitful film career, he chose to live a life of obscurity on a remote Scottish island. Thirteen years later he’s finally ready to make his return, starting with a lead role in a musical on London’s West End.
As a choreographer’s assistant, Rose Taylor has always faded into the background. She watches shows come to life from the side lines, but has never craved the attention of stardom. When rumours begin circulating of Damon’s involvement in her latest gig, she doesn’t predict how she will be thrust into the limelight, nor how the mysterious and strangely introverted man will need her to teach him how to be a star again.
Rose knows that show crushes don’t last. Actors fall for each other during the intensity of a production, often losing themselves in their roles. These kinds of affairs burn bright and then they fade. The question is, should Rose let herself shine with Damon, or guard her heart from being broken after the final curtain call?

Synopsis

Sometimes two broken pieces make a whole.

He’s the one she’s always loved.

She’s the one he could never have.

A forbidden night of passion resulted in years of heartbreak when he walked away. Now she’s in danger and needs his help.

Trust doesn’t come easy for FBI Agent Nick Stone, especially when it comes to love, but he’ll risk it all for Katelyn Slade.

Including his heart.

Bullets fly, betrayals are exposed, and the flames from their past ignite.

His protection might be what saves her but in the end she will be his salvation.

This is Book two in the Acts Of Honor series, the spin-off series to Men Of Honor. It’s Nick and Katelyn’s story and is told in dual POV, has an HEA with no cliffhanger and it can be read as a standalone. However, I highly recommend that you read the Men Of Honor series prior, as characters play recurring roles in both series.

Review by Lisa Kane

"When you see how big the universe really is, it makes all your problems feel a little smaller."

Katelyn Slade has made a new life for herself with her cousin Faith and her friends in Charleston. There was a time when it was just her brother Kolan that she could count on. Her father was abusive and her mother let him treat his kids however he wanted. But they made it out alive and although she made some poor choices in men, she's got her own salon and life is good.

But then Kolan is accused of rape and Katelyn's world is rocked right down to the foundation. She knows this can't be true. Kolan Slade, is the heavyweight champion in the EFC, and has a good head on his shoulders. Katelyn knows he's innocent. But how is she going to help him?

She calls the one man she knows that will have Kolan's back-Nick Stone. It's been seven years since she saw the man who broke her heart. The man who left a goodbye letter after spending the most beautiful night of her life with her.

"I can't be what you need. I ...I can't give you forever and that's what you deserve."

Nick is an FBI agent, living in Florida. He left town and he worked his way up from the trenches. Along with his partner Ryder Jameson,  they are a dynamic duo in law enforcement. But he has one weakness-Katelyn. He might have left her behind, but he never replaced her in his heart. There is nothing he wouldn't do for her.

"The thing is, Katelyn, you think I forgot, but I never stopped watching. I've always known."

Katelyn knows that Nick will help with Kolan, but she knows he will eventually return to his life in Florida. But what she doesn't know is why Nick can't commit or allow himself to give in to the love he feels for Katelyn. He keeps that info locked down tight. But he is only a man, and he can't help but want Katelyn. How could they not give in to the passion they both feel for one another?

If all goes well I'll get in and out quickly. Because I have no doubt that seeing the one girl I've never forgotten, the only one to ever penetrate through my defenses is going to fuck with my head and emotions in the worst way.

This is going to turn out to be quite an adventure for them. There is so much going on behind the scenes and so many players all up to no good that their lives are in constant danger. When faced with life or death situations will the truth about Nick and his past come out? Can he stop pushing Katelyn away and let himself trust in love?

I've come to realize if there is one part of our body we have no control over it's the heart. It has a mind of its own and it doesn't give a damn about consequences.

I adored KC Lynn's Men of Honor series and was just as infatuated with Beautifully Insightful. Seeing characters from both the books merge in this story was a win/win for me! I never tire of them; each has had their own story and they exist beyond the pages in my mind.

Excerpt

He begins moving inside of me with slow, exquisite strokes, his eyes never leaving mine. He looks at me in a way I’ve longed to have someone look at me my whole life. Like I matter, like I’m important…like I am more. When it’s time for him to go back this is what I’ll remember. This is what I’ll keep close to me on the nights I ache for him, to remember that someone looked at me like this once. Even if I don’t get it for a lifetime, it’s better than not getting it at all.

Just like the man himself.

Reaching up, I cup his strong, stubbly jaw. He encircles my wrist and kisses the inside of it, right over my tattoo.

No words needed.

As more tears begin to fall he leans down and catches them with his lips. “Feel me, Kate. Feel nothing but me.”

“I do. You’re all I feel.”

“Just us,” he whispers.

“Just us.”

Review: Never Stop Falling by Ashley Drew

She didn't expect to fall for her best friend.
He was always waiting to catch her.

Corinne Bennett lives in the moment. Whether she's skydiving out of an airplane, or setting off on the road to anywhere, she's ready to dive into the next adventure. That is, if best friend and always-by-the-book Nicholas Kelley doesn't put his foot down on her wild stunts first.

When Corinne gives in to her growing feelings for Nicholas the summer before their freshman year of college, she takes the ultimate risk, making this one adventure he has longed to explore with her.

But the moment they take that irrevocable leap, a shocking revelation blindsides Corinne, exposing her vulnerabilities, baring her fears, and shattering her beliefs about love. With their future—and more importantly, their friendship—now clouded in doubt, she must decide if love is really worth the risk.

Because when it comes to love, you never stop falling.

Review by Trinette Dungee

Corrine Bennett has always been adventurous, willing to try anything. Her best friend Nicholas is always there to rein her in and bring her back down to earth. Nicholas has always been a constant in her life and they’ve never been anything but the best of friends until they both start to look at each other as more than just a buddy. Crossing the line could mean the best thing in the world or the worst thing and the end of a perfect friendship.

Corrine has always seen Nicholas as her best friend. They’ve know each other since birth. Their parents bathed them together, they had sleepovers together…they did everything together. But one day of hanging out on the beach changes all of that; Corrine starts to notice Nick as more than just her buddy, he’s a man; a real flesh and blood man, a gorgeous flesh and blood man. After a mind blowing kiss it’s evident to Corrine and Nicholas that they have feelings for each other but before they can move their relationship forward Corrine is delivered a shocking blow from her father that has her running from everything and everyone she’s ever known and loved, including Nicholas. Although she promises to return, it is six years before Nick ever lays eyes on Corrine again. Aside from a few emails and messages it’s just as long before he hears from her again as well. When she does return she’s engaged and finds that her attraction or love for Nicholas hasn’t died.

The story starts off present day with Corinne on a flight to see Nicholas who she has now admitted that she loves and wants to spend the rest of her life with; while in mid-flight there is trouble with the plane and Corinne begins to wonder if she will even make it to Nicholas. At this point we are transported back in time to the events leading up to that moment. With that we kind of know that they will end up together (barring a tragic plane crash), what we get with the rest of the story is the in between and it’s told from both POVs; Corrine and Nicholas.

I don’t know what it is, but this is about the fourth consecutive book I’ve read where I really didn’t care too much for the female character. I’m going to give it to Corrine that the information she received was devastating but she just took it to a whole other level. In a word Corrine was a BRAT (at one point she even admits this). I had a really hard time liking her and when I did start to like her, she does something that once again makes me want to choke her. At one point I kind of told myself that I was going to her a break because she was young. But she was young when she was dealt the initial blow…at this point she like twenty-four/twenty-five, much too old to act the way she did. Corrine is constantly referred to as brave, even by herself. However, it seems like her bravery never really shows itself unless Nick is around. Corrine’s main reason for her trip home is to mend fences with her father, but as time passes she realizes that there are quite a few fences that need mending. Nick was pretty easy to like but with the really nice guys also comes the sometimes annoyingly nice part of them but there was just the right mixture for me.

Even after years apart Cori and Nick seems to fall right back into step with each other. There’s definitely tension between them but when they let their guards down, it’s like they never separated. You spend page after page just waiting for them to say “Okay, let’s do this…let’s be together.” Even though you already know from the way the book starts that it’s just not going too happened that way.

I really don’t like to do spoilers so I can only say so much. This is one of those; you have to read it to get the real experience. What I will say is pay close attention to the mode of communication used between Corrine and Nicholas (I instantly thought it was strange, but there’s a reason why it was strange). There was something about Nick’s phone when he goes to call Corinne after they have reconnected, I thought it was strange but again, I wasn’t paying attention. I’m normally pretty quick at catching on to things like scenery and time period. If I’d paid closer attention, the end portion of this storyline wouldn’t have caught me off guard and almost sent me into heart failure! I didn’t really realize it until the end but this was a roller-coaster read. Emotions ran high and not just from Corrine and Nick…the supporting characters were also pretty interesting (wondering if there will be some other storylines coming?).

If I’m not mistaken this is Ashley Drew’s first novel and I think she nailed it. There were some parts of the story that dragged and I was totally ready to give this book three stars but when I reached a certain point, and I factored in everything, I realized this was a four star read. It wasn’t just the storyline, it was timing and how things just came together. Most reads have an “Aha Moment” somewhere in the middle but this one…Oh the “Aha moment” came towards the end and at just the

right time. Perfectly planned and perfectly laid out.

Review: Noah by Justine Elvira

No.

It's a small word that says so much.

It's a word most of us don't use when we should.

It's a word that could have kept my life on an easy path.

No is the word I should have said...

But it never left my lips that night.

Now I'm torn between two men. One is tender, sweet, and dependable. The other is rough, dirty, and unreliable. One man will lead me to the life I've always planned. The other man will lead me to a life with wild new experiences.

I'm in this mess simply because I didn’t say that one word at the right time. I couldn’t resist him.

It would have been easier if I had said no.

I should have said no.

Review by Jen Skewes

I LOVED this book!  I started this book in the evening, after the kids were fed, homework was done and they were all in bed.  I figured I would read a little and then continue the next day.  But that didn’t happen, simply because I could not put this book down.  It was after midnight and I knew I needed to get some sleep but how could I when I needed to know what would happen with Noah and Skye.  The best books are the ones you do not want to put down and once you are done reading you do not want to let go of the characters.  I am still thinking about this book the next day and how much I loved it.  How much I loved Noah and his sweet ways.

Skye and Noah have been friends since Skye was 8 years old.  They lived next door to each other.  Even though Noah was 3 years older than her the two of them were inseparable.  When Skye wanted to play Barbie’s, Noah was the one to play them with her.  They were the best of friends and Noah has always been there for Skye.  He is the one person in her life that she could always count on no matter what happened or how far away he was.  Noah was always by her side in some way, even if not physically, he was there.  He was her comfort, her rock, and he felt like home.

When Noah went to visit her in college he brought his friend with him, whom he had met in his travels.  That was the night that things changed between Noah and Skye.  That was also the night that her and Caleb started dating.  It’s six years later and Caleb and Skye are still together and Noah is still best friends with the both of them.  Skye has been in love with Noah since she is fourteen but the dream that she has had since a little girl of being married with the white pickett fence will never happen with Noah. He is not that type of guy and he does not share the same feelings for her.  But when things get to be a little rocky and Noah is there for her in a way that she only dreamed of, what will happen next?  Who will she choose?  Caleb, the man who can give her everything she dreamed of?  Or Noah the man who she has loved for most of her life, but is not reliable?

I don’t think that I realized that this was going to be a triangle even though reading the blurb again I can see that.  To be honest I am not always a fan of triangles.   Usually because I have a hard time deciding which amazing guy she should be with.  But once I started reading there was no doubt in my mind.  I disliked Caleb and had issues with him and I absolutely loved Noah.  In my eyes, he is who she belonged with.  That man has loved Skye for so long and you can see just how much.  Even if he does not come out and admit it you can see by his actions how much she means to him.  He is known for being a player but a part of me wonders how much of that is really true.  Or is it something that he let Skye believe?  Honestly I really do not know the answer to that question at all but my point is that no matter what he does in his spare time this man is so caring and so genuine and will always care for and be there for Skye.  Aside from being hot and sexy he is a really really good, caring and loving guy.  To see the little things that he has done for Skye throughout the years will melt your heart and make you fall in love with him each and every time.  The thing with the kisses I think was the sweetest thing EVER!!!!  When I eat a Hershey’s kiss, from now on I will do so with a smile on my face while thinking of him.

I could clearly I could go on and on and on about Noah….But I will move on.    I honestly loved Skye, I really did.  Even though she made some really poor choices I understood where she was coming from. I wanted to shake her on many occasions and make her see what was really going on.  But Skye was so in love with the idea of her future and her dream that she didn’t realize that she had sacrificed a part of her dream once she moved to NY with Caleb.  She let so much get in the way of her true feelings, which I think in a way made her completely naive to what was really going on.

This book had drama and angst.  My stomach was in knots as I was reading and I waiting for that moment when it would all just hit the fan.  And my God when it did I went through all of the emotions.   I hated Caleb and honestly laughed to myself at his words.  I wanted to knock some sense into Skye and I wanted to just hug Noah.  I was frustrated, annoyed and found myself yelling at these characters in my head while reading.  That’s how much this book made me feel.  It brought all of the emotions out, good and bad.  Because there were also so many sweet moments, happy moments, and hot moments as well.  And the letters, those made me tear up just a bit.  In the end I was left with a big smile on my face.  It was worth all of the drama, and the roller coaster ride of emotions that I went through.  The ending was perfect.

This is by far my favorite book from Justine Elvira and I have read them all.  My only issue is I really wished we had some of Noah’s point of view.  There are so many behind the scene moments that I would have loved to see from his side.  Plus I just didn’t want it to end. I am still thinking about it as I write this review.   Cannot wait for the next one in this series.
