Beautifully Damaged by L.A. Fiore

Beautifully Damaged

Our 4.5 Star Review by guest reviewer Allison East

This story for me was amazing. It had all the elements I look for in a novel. A hot alpha male, romance, chemistry, sex, mystery, suspense and some twists thrown in.
Ember Walsh is a self-proclaimed wallflower. She is typically shy and reserved and a bit stifled. I think that's in part to her roommate Lena (who we hate). When Ember is on her own at a bar one night, she spots HIM.
Trace Montgomery is a self-proclaimed player. His love-em and leave-em philosophy is what gets him by. But that is not who he really is. He is desperately looking for someone to love him- even the dark parts of his personality and when he meets Ember, he believes it to be her.
Ember is warned by the bartender to stay away from Trace or she will get her heart broken- but it seems they can't stay away from each other.
Ember's mother was killed in a car accident when she was three so she was left with her father to raise her. He is such a great character in this book as well and you can tell how much he loves Ember.
Over time Trace and Ember become "friends." Ember is set up on a date by Lena and Todd with a man named Dane- immediately I do not like him. He seems very creepy, and gives off a total predator vibe.   Trace shows up to make Ember aware of a conversation between Dane and Todd, Lena's boyfriend, that he overhears in the bathroom- and saves Ember again.  After that happens with Lena and her boyfriend Todd, Ember moves in with Trace. Things shift between the two of them but the one thing that is constant is that Trace never has a high opinion of himself throughout. Another good character is Lucien- he asks Ember out and when they are out at dinner
He keeps pushing her away and claims he's only good for one thing, sex. But she refuses to see it.
In part this book reminded me of Beautiful Disaster- the main man is a player and doesn't think himself worthy of the girl. He's also a professional fighter who almost always wins. He also fights for the ones he loves. Another part of the story reminded me of Ten Tiny Breaths, it has to do with a twist that I won't reveal but when you read it, you'll know what I mean.

I don't usually rate books this high, but I give it a 4.5- and the only thing stopping me from 5 stars was typing errors. She had a few run on sentences and the book needs to be polished a little. Other than that, this is a book I recommend and since reading it the first time, I am on my second time through.

You will totally fall in love with Trace, especially when he is trying to win Ember over. Trust me, it's a must read!
