Please note: this is not dark romance.

I am not a good man.

I have lied and cheated and stolen. I've decided between life or death, like it was my due. None of it matters, not anymore. These are not my sins.

I see her raise her hands, the dark metal she's clutching reflecting the moonlight. Her finger trembles as she cocks the gun pointed at me. Her eyes are cold, determined, but I know.

I know her.

My name is Devon Andre and I confess my sin. I am not a good man because this is the woman I love.

She pulls the trigger.

* Standalone contemporary romance.
* Mature reader advised due to sexual content and strong language.

4 Star Review by Jen Skewes

Between the blurb and the cover of this book I knew it was something that I needed to read.  I really enjoyed this book and honestly was so different than what I expected but I mean that in a really good way.  I as quickly sucked in to the world of Leighton and Devon.  This is a story about forbidden love between two people whose families are both in the mob and have been enemies of each other for years.  Devon's family wants vengeance for something that happened years ago and Devon himself wants Leighton's family to pay just as much as anyone.
The story begins with Devon kidnapping Leighton after he finds her eavesdropping on his "business" conversation.  He brings her back to his Uncle's mansion and holds her captive, knowing what he must do, just not sure if he can.  There is a certain connection between Devon and Leighton, both physical and emotional.  Devon knows that she must pay for what her family has done and that he can't just let her go.  But his feelings for her keep getting in the way.  He finds himself drawn to her and needs to be able to separate business and pleasure.  As much as he may want her, he can't have her.
For a good portion of the book Leighton is being held captive by Devon and we see their attraction for each other start to grow.  The sexual tension and chemistry between these two are completely off the charts.  There is no doubting the feelings they have for each other but being together is a risk that neither of them should be taking.  Devon knows what his orders are.  But how do you hurt someone who was made for you, the one person you have ever truly had feelings for?  What becomes more important; love or family?
I really liked Devon a lot but was a little skeptical in the beginning.  I honestly wasn't sure what to think of him at first.  He seemed like this cold hearted person who would kill to protect his family and truthfully he made me a little nervous.  I wasn't sure what he was going to do or what would happen.  But as we see more of Devon and I mean really dig deep and "see" him you realize that he really is a good guy with a heart.  I think he spent his life trying to please his family and be the person he was expected to be.  But underneath the person he portrays to the world is a guy who is capable of love.  I loved him with Leighton and I loved that we got to see this story told from both point of views.  We see the conflict within for both of them, see their true feelings for each other and how they deal with it.  They were perfect for each other.
Vendetta was an enjoyable read that had it all; drama, mystery, suspense and angst.  There were twist and turns along the way that I did not see coming.  Once I started reading I could not put it down.  I needed to know what happened next, would Leighton get away, would her and Devon find love with each other even if their families wouldn't allow it.  And just when you think you know who everyone is or what is going to happen in the story...BAM another twist.  I loved this book and definitely recommend.  I look forward to reading more from these authors.
