I’m Dan Smith, and I’m currently living two lives. Maybe even
three if you really look into it. Haley, Allison, Hunter, Wade, Sergio, and
Isla all exist in one or more of them somehow.
Am I a supporting role in their stories, or are they merely
characters in mine?
You decide.
Haley told her story. Now I’ll tell mine.
She said. He said.
This is my story.
Note: Secret Alpha is the second book in the A is for
Alpha Male Series and must be read after A
is for Alpha Male.
Warning: Some explicit language and sexual content.
4.5 Star Review by Jen Skewes
Haley is on a road trip with her mother, more like a quest to find the perfect man. Dan knows that he is that man and wants a life with Haley. But his job is holding him back from that. He needs to make some things happen before he can even think of settling down and telling Haley how he feels. Haley continues on her road trip with her mother while Dan tries to sort out his life. What I loved about this book was that we get to see what Dan did for a living and how it would affect his pursuit of a relationship with Haley. We see how much he wanted to maker her his and see his true feelings for her. And we also see his sneaky ways and the lengths he will go to keep her safe.
Secret Alpha was everything I hoped for. Do you have to read A is for Alpha Male prior to reading this one? No. But it is definitely recommended. It will help you understand Haley and her relationship with her mother and the reasons for their hunt for the perfect alpha male. Dan Smith is still just as amazing, charming, funny, sexy, swoon worthy and all alpha male in this book. I loved experiencing this story from his point of view. And to be honest while there were scenes that overlapped from the first book I never felt like I was reading it all over again. It felt like I was reading the scene for the first time. If you have not met Dan Smith yet the you must read this book. Loved it!! I cannot wait for Alison's book.
4.5 star review (A is For Alpha Male) by Jen Skewes
I loved this book! A is for Alpha Male is a quick, fun and witty read. This is not my first book from Laurel Ulen Curtis. I have read all of her other books and loved them so of course I could not wait to read this one. A is for Alpha Male is very different from the author's usual work but I will say that she did an amazing job with it.
Haley and her mother are both huge fans of author Kristen Ashley. They fall in love with all the male characters in her books. They decide to take a road trip in search of the perfect KA book boyfriend. They make a list of all the qualities that they want starting with alpha male, ending with zealous and 24 other qualities in between. One of those traits being a cool name. On their first stop Haley meets Dan Smith. Alpha male? yes. Really cool name? not at all. But that didn't change the way she was attracted to him and the fact that she actually liked him. They quickly became friends and when Haley went back on the road they continued that friendship, talking on the phone and texting each other. But when Haley left to continue her trip leave she may have left a little piece of her heart as well. Haley continued on her search for the perfect book boyfriend even though deep down she knew she found him. But Haley wasn't so sure that Dan felt the same way about her. They were friends, and if that was all she would get from him she would be ok with that. But a part of her wanted more and thought that maybe he felt the same way. There road trip finally comes to an end but before going home, Haley finds herself back in the first place that they stopped. Wanting to see if Dan feels the same way about her as she does him. Hmmmm....Does Dan have feelings for Haley that go beyond a friendship? You will have to read to find out.
There are so many things that I loved about this book. Haley and her mother have a relationship that I think most people wish they had with their mother. Allison knew when to be a friend and when to be a mother. They were honestly the best of friends who could talk about anything. Allison was by far the coolest mom. She was there to comfort her when needed, tell her when she was being a little too dramatic which could be often. But she was also there to have fun and be there for her as a friend and confidant. Their relationship worked. It was very genuine and very real.
Now let's talk about Dan Smith. I want my own Dan Smith, Dan-o, Danny! I loved everything about him. He was an alpha male but had a flirty side to him that was sexy. He was also sweet and caring and awesome. I loved the banter between the two of them. Haley is a feisty, in your face, no holds barred kind of girl, who at times can be very dramatic She says want she wants, at times sounding a little bit crazy. But that never stopped Dan. He knew exactly how to handle her form of crazy, how to give it right back to her, but in a good flirty kind of way. Dan Smith may not have had the "cool" name but he was definitely book boyfriend worthy in every way. They were so cute and adorable together.
A is for Alpha Male is a really fun and enjoyable read. It has a totally swoon worthy hero, a few twists towards the end, a little bit of drama and plenty of laugh out loud moments. This is one of those books that will keep you smiling and one you just cannot put down. A book that you can relate to in so many ways, from the Zack Morris references to talking about a man's junk. And an ending that was simply perfect! This book is about a mother/daughter road trip with a love story in between. Laurel Ulen Curtis did a fantastic job with the writing, and the characters. I fell in love with Haley and Dan and thought that they were so perfect for each other. I am really hoping for Dan's POV because I would love to get in his head. Looking forward to the next on in this series. This is a must read!

Laurel Ulen Curtis is a 27
year old mother of one. She lives with her husband and son (and cat and two
fish!) in New Jersey, but grew up all over the United States. She graduated
from Rutgers University in 2009 with a Bachelor of Science in Meteorology, and
puts that to almost no use other than forecasting for her friends and writing a
storm chasing heroine! She has a passion for her family, laughing, and reading
and writing Romance novels. She’s also addicted to Coke. The drink, not the
drug.
