Five minutes until the interview begins.

Fresh on the heels of her college graduation, Cameron Heart has landed an interview at a prestigious architecture firm.

Four minutes until the interview.
She knows she’s only there because the owner, Grayson Cole, is her older sister’s friend.
Three minutes.
For the last seven years, Grayson has been the most intimidating man Cammie has ever had the pleasure, or displeasure, of being around.
Two Minutes.
But the job opportunity is too good to pass up. So, Cammie will have to ignore the fact that Grayson is handsome enough to have his own national holiday.
One.
After all, she shouldn’t feel that way about her new boss. And, he will be her new boss.

“I’m not scared of you,” I said with a confident smile.
“Perhaps we should fix that, Ms. Heart. Close the door.”

4.5 Stars by Lisa Kane

I adored The Duet and although Jason and Brook's story made me snort coffee out of my nose it was so funny, I was more intrigued by her sister Cameron and Brook's good friend Grayson Cole. I just knew there had to be a reason why these two avoided each other like the plague, and yet, they  seemed to be drawn to one another. I knew they were attracted to each other, but could not figure out why Grayson wouldn't pursue anything with her.

Well, my questions were all answered. Brook serves as a parent, a sister and a mentor for Cammie. Their parents are dead and Brook raised Cammie, although she gave her a run for her money when she went through her rebellious teen years. Way too much partying and guys. Brook asked Grayson to help steer Cammie in the right direction. What she didn't know was that Grayson was attracted to her and had no intentions of doing anything about it, especially as Cammie was still in high school and Grayson was **8 years older than her. He was just starting to get his architectural firm off the ground. But Cammie showed interest in pursuing her talent for design and wanted to become an architect herself.

He wanted to be close to Cammie any way that he could, but taking advantage of a young. vulnerable girl wasn't something his morality would let him get away with. To keep temptation at bay, he made a pact with himself to help Cammie from afar and keep his distance whenever possible.

Now she has graduated with her Masters in architecture and Grayson is giving her a chance to interview with his firm, Cole Designs-one of LA's largest architecture firms. Cammie knows that in spite of not wanting to work for him, a firm like his can open so many doors for her. It will give her the chance to do what she most wants-make enough money to go to Paris. That's where she wants to live and if working for Grayson is the way she will get there, then so be it.
From my calculations-assuming I didn't turn to prostituting myself in Europe-I'd need to work for about three months before I could purchase a one-way ticket to Paris.

Cammie has always fought her attraction to Grayson. It seems he's cut her down every time they've been together. She's convinced for some reason he doesn't like her and only tolerates her because of Brook.

He was the Mr. Darcy to my Elizabeth Bennet, the Prince Charming to my Cinderella, and most importantly, the Ron Weasley to my Hermione Granger.

There are a ton of applicants and clearly Grayson knows that Cammie is the most qualified. But he tells her that hiring her would be a conflict of interest-Hold on-why? Well it seems Grayson finally admits that he is attracted to her but would never consider crossing the line with an employee of his, but he's going to give her the job anyway.

"Despite my best efforts to rid myself of it, I've always felt an attraction to you, Cameron. I've ignored that desire mainly because you're too young for me. Now, it's more inappropriate than ever."
"I don't intend on acting on those feelings. So there's no point in discussing it. I don't have relationships with employees and I won't be having a relationship with you." "The job is yours if you want it."

Talk about waving a red flag in front of a Cammie bull's face!

Cammie's new desk is right outside Grayson's office and unfortunately he has visits from his latest lover, Nicole, stopping in for some afternoon delight several times a week. Cammie is going to play the card she's been dealt and use Grayson's attraction for her against him. But he constantly rejects her and turns up the heat by flaunting other women in her face. Arrggh..I wanted to kick him in his nuts so many times.
"Do you ever think of me when you're with them? The other women in your life?"
"No," he said with a sharp shake of his head. "When I was with Nicole last night..in my bed...with her legs wrapped around my neck, I never once thought of you."

I was embarrassed for Cammie, I thought maybe she should stop trying so hard in her pursuit of him. At the same time, she is saddled with a douche of a supervisor, Alan, (Grayson should have fired this asshat -what a tool he was, and a scheming roommate Hannah, who wants Grayson for herself). This girl just could not get a break.

But there comes a time when even the most disciplined man will let his penis overrule his resolve and finally Grayson gives in to his feelings for Cammie.

"Can you see my hand in the mirror, Cammie?" he asked as he touched the center of my thighs.
I could see it all.
"Keep watching," he said as he brushed a finger over my skin. My knees threatened to buckle. The music grew louder. My moans matched his. I squeezed my eyes closed and he told me to open them, to watch. My stomach pressed against cold marble. His hands dug into my hips as he held me in place. Someone rapped on the bathroom door, and we completely ignored them.
He pressed into me in one quick thrust and I nearly lost my footing.

But their bliss is short lived and Cammie-oh Cammie-¦her talent but lack of patience and restraint are going to be her downfall.

What will happen when Grayson learns what she did? But then again, what will happen when Cammie learns a few of Grayson's secrets?

The witty banter between the characters in this series provides more than a few laugh out loud moments. I don't know where RS Grey comes up with the lines she does, but they are hysterical.

French phrases that I know: Quelle est votre baguette..which roughly translates to, "How big is your baguette?" which can serve a purpose inside of a French Bakery and also in a French night club...

I loved Cammie and Grayson, although I wish we had more of a POV from him. There were several parts where I was dying to know what he was thinking and why he did some of the things he did. Maybe bonus excerpts at some point (hint hint) I can't wait to see what RS Grey's next thing is that she has in store for us!
I paused just outside of the front doors and took a deep breath, trying to get my bearings. I was twenty minutes early for my interview. My outfit was still wrinkle-free. My pad-folio was filled with extra copies of my resume and reference letters, and I’d rehearsed every possible question that Grayson Cole would ask:
Greatest weakness? My inability to settle for anything less than what I deserve. I’m stubborn and persistent.
The honest answer? My inability to overcome my schoolgirl crush on you even though you’re a self-righteous ass.
I would NOT be giving him the honest answer.
I am a lover of books, chocolate, reality TV, black labs, and cold weather. Seriously, if I had it my way, I would be curled up on the couch with all of those things... everyday.
I live in Texas where I spend my free time writing and reading. My favorite authors include Mindy Kaling & Jonathan Safran Foer. I'm a comedy geek and love all things "funny". Women like Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, and Mindy Kaling are definitely the biggest inspirations for my writing, though I think my work tends to skew a bit smuttier than theirs.
