Review: Sacrifice by Adriana Locke

My life changed forever the night my husband died.
I was left with a shattered heart, a heap of bills, and our daughter, EVERLEIGH. I don’t want to rely on anyone, least of all CREW GENTRY. He’s my first love and the man who almost destroyed me, the man who has let me down every time I’ve needed him.
But when tragedy strikes a second time, Crew just might be my only hope.

My life changed forever the night my brother died.
I was left with a guilty conscience, a pile of mistakes, and little else. I take care of JULIA GENTRY, my brother’s widow and the love of my life, and their daughter. I know she doesn’t want my help, but she gets it anyway. I owe her that.

When another disaster hits, I’m given the opportunity to make things right. I’m taking it. I'm willing to sacrifice it all.

4 Stars!

Review by Lisa Kane

Crew Gentry lives with guilt every day. He is determined to help out Julia,  his sister- in- law and his niece Everleigh. After his brother Gage's death, he tried to step up an be the man he knows he should have always been.

Julia resents Crew's help. Things have been hard since her husband died and financially things could not be worse. They live in a dumpy apartment that takes just about all of Julia's pay- She works full time as a secretary and part time at night at a diner. There is never enough money and she wishes she could afford to turn down Crew's help.

Crew wrestles with his demons every day. Years ago he was the one who was Julia's guy. But he screwed things up and she ended up turning to his brother Gage for comfort and support. But Crew knows that his brother loved Julia and his daughter with his whole heart.

I couldn't give her those things. I didn't want to give her those things. Maybe I had at one point, but I didn't anymore. There were too many things going on in my life to think about settling down or worrying about someone else.

Trouble seems to be no stranger to Crew and he has been in fights most of his life. He messed around in college and his neglect is what led to him losing Julia. But he suffered an injury that put and end to his MMA fighting days. His life never really has gotten back on track. Devastated by his brother's death (he blames himself and knows Julia blames him as well) he works his job on the docks, drinks and whores around. But he is good to Everleigh and won't let Julia go without.

"It's a good one," Ever says, her voice heavy with sleep, "about two princes that both love a beautiful princess. They love her the same but different..."

Bu then the unthinkable happens and Julia and Crew have the fight of their lives on their hands.

I don't know if it's what he said or the way he said it, but I'm almost certain this won't be all right at all.

They will need money and where will that come from? There is a character in this book who I loathed-Hunter Davidson. He is an arrogant asshat who is rotten to the core. But he holds the key to their solution for money. But at what price?

Sacrifice is a detailed, well thought out story. It's a second chance at love and redemption. There were lots of times I didn't like Crew's character and Julia frustrated me, but their struggle to overcome their past and try to find a future together made for a heart warming read.

"The best things in life don't come easy, but those things are the ones worth
the sacrifice."
