Review: Tailored for Trouble by Mimi Jean Pamfiloff

A sassy, sexy, laugh-out-loud rom-com between the hottest man never to be tamed and the woman crazy enough to try

SHE WANTS TO CHANGE THE WORLD.

Taylor Reed is no stranger to selfish, uncaring CEOs. She was fired by one, which is why she has created her own executive training program—helping heartless bosses become more human. So Taylor shocks even herself when she agrees to coach Bennett Wade, the cutthroat exec who got her unceremoniously canned. She’d love to slam the door in his annoying but very handsome face, but the customers aren’t exactly lining up at her door. Plus, this extreme makeover will give Taylor the golden opportunity to prove that her program works like a charm.

HE WANTS TO BUY IT.

Bennett Wade is many things—arrogant, smug, brusque—but trusting isn’t one of them. Women just seem to be after his billions. So when he hires Taylor Reed, he has no desire to change. Bennett is trying to win over the feminist owner of a company he desperately wants to buy, but something about the fiery Taylor thaws the ice around his heart, making Bennett feel things he never quite planned on. And if there’s one thing Bennett can’t stand, it’s when things don’t go according to plan.

They are a match tailor-made for trouble.

Review by Jen Skewes

I just finished this book and I want so much more.  And no this is not a cliffhanger, but I just loved these characters so much that I want so much more of them.  I completely devoured this book, not wanting to put it down.  This book had my emotions and brain all over the place.  At times it felt like my head was spinning out of control, because Bennett Wade gave me whiplash more times than I can count.  But that is a good thing.

Taylor Reed has lost everything.  After one meeting at work that went completely wrong she has no job and has spent her entire savings starting up her own business that has completely gone no where.  And now she is left with nothing, having to go back home to her father and brothers and explain how her life is such a mess right now.  Then Bennett Wade, the very man who she blames for havng no job, waltzes back into her life and offers her a job.  One she would love to refuse.  She needs the money but at the same time is wondering why this man wants to hire her.

Bennett Wade is rich and sexy and very in control.  What Bennett wants he usually gets.  And right now he wants Taylor Reed to work with him for the next two weeks to help him with his newest client.  But Taylor is the one person who sees through him, she is the one person who can put him in his place and most importantly one of the few women who have said no to him.  When someone tells him no it only gives him more ammunition to go after what he wants.

Taylor agrees to work with him but along the way she finds out some of Bennett’s secrets.  Some secrets that have hurt her and some that just melt her heart.  This man is an enigma.  A complete mystery and one that she would love to solve.  But she has to figure out how to handle him.  She is falling for him but he as a wall built around him that is so thick that it is hard for anyone to get through.  But over time will Taylor finally be the woman who breaks down his walls?  Will she be the one to peel back his layers and see the real man behind the suit?

Bennett is one of those characters that you are not quite sure how to feel about him at first.  My first impression of him seemed to be that he was a complete douche, but at the same time I knew that there was so much more to this man, who felt the need to say what he felt, even if it meant putting people down. He was Bennett Wade and therefore he felt it was his right to treat people the way he wanted. But there were so many layers to this man and all I wanted was to peel each one back until I saw who this man really was.  And by the end I fell in love with him, because beneath it all he was a really good guy with a big heart. He just had some trust issues and issues from his past that he needed to work through.  I loved how he was with Taylor and yes at times he was an ass but he more than made up for it.  You could see he cared about her even if he had a hard time expressing it.  But he did care.  She was more than just someone that worked for him.

Taylor was his perfect match in so many ways.  She wasn't like the women he usually dated which is why she was perfect for him.  She knew how to call him out like no one else could.  If anyone could break his walls down it was her.  There were secrets from his past that not even his mother knew about.  But his connection with Taylor allowed him to trust her and open up to her.  And I loved that moment when he finally did.  You see the real man behind the sexy rich businessman.   But you also see just what an amazing person Taylor is because she listens without judging and in the end still loves him.

I could not get enough of these characters.  There was angst and drama and moments where I swear I had whiplash.  Just when I thought I knew who Bennett was and how he felt he would do something that would completely made me think twice about it all.  He had such great chemistry and an amazing connection when it came to Taylor.  I loved how they pushed each other's buttons and I loved how well Taylor handled him.  There were times when they just made me laugh and smile.  Bennett's mother was a great addition to this cast of characters and seeing her connect so easily with Taylor just made it all perfect.  I really hope that we get to see more of these characters.  I know that Sarah's book is next which I am really excited for.  I am also hoping that maybe we get to see Taylor's brother find love again as well.
