Release Blitz: Garden of Goodbyes by Faith Andrews

Cover Design: Marisa-rose Shor / Cover Me Darling
Release Date: March 13, 2017

Synopsis

Loss, betrayal, addiction . . . on their own, each of these heartaches can break you, but mix them all together and the concoction will ruin you.

When I closed the door on my past I didn’t expect it to come back and haunt me. But when you’re the sole person who can save the only man you’ve ever loved, you rush through that door, face your fears, and pray for the best.

Only, anything good has been long forgotten. In its place is destruction, devastation and enough regret to last a lifetime. I was appalled when she called for my help. I went willingly in hopes to make things right. But I never expected this. A broken man, a hopeless future, the beginning of the end.

She’s to blame for the mess of a man in front of me and I’m to blame for walking away.

Can things ever go back to the normal the three of us once knew? Or am I too late to fix the damage we’ve caused together?

Review by Jen Skewes

I have been a huge fan of Faith Andrews since reading her first book, Man of My Dreams.  I have read every one of her books and l loved them all.  When I saw that she was releasing a new book I couldn’t have been more excited.  Then I read the blurb and knew that this one was going to kill me in some way.  I was so nervous going in, not really knowing what to expect.  And I had every right to be.  I had my own theory of how this story would go and I thought “ok you can handle this.”  But in no way was I prepared for the ride that Ms. Andrews would take me on.  This book had my emotions all over the place.  It pulled at my heartstrings, actually it tugged at them really hard and completely broke me.  This book is unlike anything that Faith Andrews has written and unlike anything that I have ever read before.  While this book put me through the ringer I can say that I loved every minute of it.

I don’t even want to go into any detail about the plot of this book at all.  You need to experience this one by going in completely blind.  It is the best way.  Garden of Goodbyes is a story about three people, Eden, Violet and Lennox.  It is a story that is filled with angst, betrayal and lies.  I think there is also an element of suspense, in the sense that you know in the beginning where these three people have ended up in their lives.  But you have no idea how they got there.   Chapter by chapter we slowly learn about the past and see what happened.  I was on the edge of my seat trying my best to read as fast as I could so I can see what happened to these people.  I knew at one point what was coming but it still didn’t mean that I was prepared for the emotions it would bring out in me. Once you learned all there was to learn about their past you needed to know how this would all work out.  I read this book in one day because I simply could not put it down.

Throughout this book I was so unsure as to how I felt about the characters.  I loved Eden, I knew that much.  She was one of the most selfless people you could ever meet.  She is a much better person than I would be in this situation.  Violet is the one that I am so unsure about.  For a majority of the book I was not a fan of hers at all.  I tried so hard to understand her and the decisions that she made but I couldn’t get over that selfish side of her.  She screwed up in so many ways and I had to wonder what her true motives were.  And then there is Lennox who from the beginning I really loved him.  I did!!  But at times I questioned everything when it came to him.  He put himself in tough situations having to chose between what he thought he needed and what he loved.  In the end though I truly understood him in a way that I didn’t before.

That’s all I am going about the characters and the story itself.  Garden of Goodbyes is by far Faith Andrews’ best work to date.  It is so different from anything that she has written and that is what I loved about it.  Garden of Goodbyes is emotional, powerful and raw.  Every part of this book felt real.  There were moments where your stomach is in knots and your heart starts pumping faster because you think you know what is coming and you are still not ready.  And the there are twists that you will shock you, moments that will break you.  The writing is flawless and I would not change one thing about this book.  This book is not for the faint of the heart.  It will completely obliterate you.  But trust me when I tell you that it was amazing. It is a beautifully haunting story that will stay with you.  Faith Andrews completely outdid herself with this one.  She wrote this book with so much passion.  This book is completely outside of the "norm" for Ms. Andrews but the fact that she wrote this book, she believed in this book and wrote it with so much passion and flawlessly I might add, is a testament to how amazing of a writer she truly is.  She completely blew me away!!!!
