Review: Where We Began by Nora Flite

From USA Today Bestselling Author Nora Flite comes a new sexy, and beautifully dark, second chance romance.
I'm a hostage.
The food is fancy, the carpets are lush, but this bed isn't mine. I'm only here because of my father's enemies.
I hate all of them. Except for him.
The first time I meet Dominic Bradley, he saves me without a second thought. This kind boy is nothing like the rest of his family. Our friendship comes easy.
When he leaves for six years it shreds my soul.
It's nothing compared to when he comes back.
He's turned into a hardened soldier with hungry eyes; a man that makes my heart race.
A man that wants to hate me while also aching to be my first kiss. My first everything.
He acts like we're enemies, like he's forgotten our past. But I can't.
It's impossible to forget the moment I fell in love.
I know where we began.
I'm not sure where we'll end.

Filthy... heart-stopping... you'll become obsessed with knowing how it ends.

Review by Jen Skewes

I love Nora Flite’s writing.  She always manages to capture me from the start.  Her dark romances aren’t too much where you can’t get past the darkness.  It is just the right amount of drama and darkness and this book was no exception.

Laiken has been taken from the her family and her home at the young age of 12.  It is the price she has to pay for her father’s mistakes.  She has lived a sheltered life with her parents, her sister/best friend and her newborn brother.  When a strange woman comes to the house to take her away, she is scared but puts up a good front.  She needs to be strong in order to get through this whole ordeal.  She really has no clue as to what is really going on or why, but she knows that she needs to be strong.

At her new home she meets Dominic, a boy her age and her captor's son.  They instantly form this bond, with Dominic saving her on her first night there.  But shortly after meeting each other, Dominic is sent away with a promise from him of coming back for holidays.  It’s about six years later and Dominic is back home for the first time since he left.  He is all grown up and not the same boy she knew.  He is so different in a way that makes her nervous.  She is not sure what to expect, but she knows that what they had years ago is gone.  He is hot and sexy and all grown up but she still feels like she needs to stay away.  How long will that last?

I really loved the connection between Laiken and Dominic when they were kids.  But when they are older ,what was once between them is still very much there.  I think she is too scared to admit it and Dominic is too afraid that she will find out the truth.  But regardless the feelings between the two of them together are still very much alive.  They are intense and at this point they both need to trust each other.  I can see how much Dominic still wanted her but at times with his family and what he feels he needs to prove I wonder what will happen.  Can she trust him?  I cannot wait to find out in Where We End.
