Release Blitz: Baby Mine by Kennedy Fox

I saw her first.

Blonde. Gorgeous. Feisty.

I was smitten.

But it didn’t matter because she chose him and
he was my best friend and roommate. I’d never be able to compete with that, so
I pushed her away instead. It was easy when she lived hours away, and I didn’t
have to see her every day, but then she moved in with us.

Now, I’m screwed.

To her singing in the shower every morning,
dancing in the kitchen while she makes coffee, and doing yoga in our living
room, I can’t stop thinking about her in all the wrong ways. She’s not mine and
never will be, but that doesn’t stop me from wanting to push her against a wall
and claim her mouth.

She’s constantly on me for making messes,
bringing chicks home every weekend, and being a smartass when their PDA gets on
my nerves. Considering neither of them know how I feel, it’s not fair for the
way I act toward them. I should move out so I can get over her for good;
however, the selfish part of me can’t let go.

But then the unthinkable happens...

When my best friend dies in a motorcycle
accident, the two of us are left to grieve our loss together. Instead of
pushing her away, I pull her closer.

Just as we come to terms with our new reality,
she finds out she’s pregnant with his baby.

And I’m left to make the hardest decision of my
life...

Review by Lisa Kane

Hunter's job as a bartender has a lot of perks-an endless supply of hook ups and the money isn't bad. It pays the bills and it he won't be doing it forever. Although, tonight he would rather be hanging out with his best friend, Brandon getting smashed instead of serving up the drinks. That is until a beautiful blonde with big blue eyes asks him what he would recommend.

Considering I work in a bar where the ladies parade their asses in short skirt and low-cut tops, I see beautiful women all the time. But this woman-the word beautiful doesn't seem sufficient to describe her.

The two go back and forth flirting -he finds out her name is Lennon and he's more than interested. Eventually she walks away from the bar area and rejoins her group of friends. Hunter thinks maybe they will get a chance to get together at closing, but he doesn't see her again.

So...the next day when he's woken up by moaning and the bed thumping against the wall. Seems Brandon's brought home some random chick. Hunter can't sleep and gets up to get a drink. He finds a girl bent over the fridge digging through food. He might just have startled her and finds a can of Redi Whip thrown at him.

My vision finally clears and it's then I see the woman Brandon has his arms wrapped around, swatting her ass.
"Lennon," I croak out, blinking, hoping I'm imagining her in front of me, standing in my kitchen with my best friend.

Yes, Lennon has hooked up with Hunter's best friend Brandon.

Two years later and Brandon and Lennon are still going strong. She's at the apartment all the time. Can this be any more awkward for Hunter? Guess Lennon didn't realize that he was interested in her.

Though I'd shown interest in Hunter earlier, the way Brandon gave me his full attention drew me closer.

Hunter was surrounded by women and Lennon thought he was out of her league. He was just flirting with her but it didn't mean anything more than him doing his job.

But nothing could be further than the truth. The last two years have been hell for Hunter. Lennon moved in about a year ago and he's had to see her with his best friend. Brandon is like a brother to him, and he wants only the best for Brandon. He's the better man, but does it hurt.

Dagger meet heart.

Brandon shares his intentions to propose to Lennon. This can't get much harder for Hunter. But he's wrong..it's going to get so much worse.

Expecting the delivery man, Lennon opens up the door to two police officers.

"I'm sorry to inform you this miss, but Mr. Locke's been in a serious motorcycle accident. The paramedics were unable to save him."

Both Hunter and Lennon are devastated and Hunter is determined to help Lennon through this-he has been nothing but sarcastic and cruel to her for the last two years, but that's because he was so cut up with jealousy. As hard as it is for Lennon to keep going, when she finds out that she's pregnant with Brandon's baby, it feels like everything is crashing down on her.

Hunter: I'll always be there for you, Lennon. No matter what.
Lennon: I'm so thankful for you. I know Brandon would be too.
Another punch straight to the gut.

This is book one of a duet, so don't expect things to be wrapped up in a pretty bow. There's a cliffy and a shock and things are just unravelling all over the place.

No matter how much I wanted to, I couldn't connect with Lennon. First she was interested in Hunter, then somehow she hooked up with Brandon. Then hated Hunter for being mean to her. She was all over the place. The scenes with the secondary characters seemed juvenile and childish. Of all the characters, Hunter, in spite of his arrogance and revenge screws, was my favorite.
