 Our 4 Star Review

Evangeline (Eva) Austin and Carter Morgan have a chance meeting at the opening of a upscale fashion shop. Sparks fly, and in the case of Eva, drinks spill, on expensive suits.  Introductions are made and covert, lustful glances are exchanged. Eva is an editor for a fashion website and Carter is a Forbes listed billionaire. Eva recently moved to Boston and is staying at her best friend Cate’s apartment. Years ago, Eva dated Cate’s brother Sawyer, who still is carrying a torch for her.  The next day, Carter shows up at the same coffee shop as Eva with a dossier of knowledge about her. Mr. Morgan has done his homework, or at least has paid handsomely for someone else to do so. Eva starts to receive expensive baubles and the two start dating.

Though there is definitely a mutual attraction, these two are both hot headed and are constantly arguing. Carter is jealous of Sawyer’s continued presence in Eva’s life. Eva is bothered by Madeline, a business associate who shares a history with Carter. It seems like every time they butt heads, Eva runs off.  Eva became somewhat annoying for this reader. Carter is a typical alpha billionaire with a colorful past; discarded ex- lovers who pathetically attempt to resurrect dead relationships and an annoying habit of clamming up when questioned about his erratic behavior. One thing this novel doesn’t lack is steam. Ms. Leigh has left no stone unturned with her descriptions of Eva and Carter’s love making. Each sweaty interlude is played out with delicious detail leaving both the fictitious couple and the reader quite satisfied. Though the two face a multitude of challenges, the novel has a tolerable amount of angst and a very nice epilogue.
