Jen Skewes' 25 Favorite Reads of 2013

I've read a lot of book in 2013 and there were many that have stayed with me or touched me in some way.  So picking 25 of my favorite reads for 2013 was honestly not an easy task.  But I did it!  There are some that are series which I counted as one book.    These are not in any particular order because seriously, that would be like asking me to pick my favorite child and picking just 25 books was hard enough.   So they are in random order.   Each one of these books have touched me in some way. I've laughed, cried, smiled, with each and every one of the characters in these books.  These are the books that stayed with me or given me a book hangover for days.  I get excited every time I hear that someone else is reading them.  The best parts of reading for me is being able to lose yourself in a good book, but it's also the excitement you feel when you get to share that book with someone else.  These are my 25 favorite reads of 2013.  I may have one over by 1 or 2, but who's counting.

Beneath This Man/This Man Confessed by Jodi Ellen Malpas

Beneath This Man - "I want readers to read this book and to feel the way I feel, that Jodi Ellen Malpas is an amazingly talented author. If you loved This Man you will love this one even more. You will get sucked into Jesse and Ava's world and love every minute of it. It will be a crazy emotional roller coaster ride, but trust me when I say this, when you get to the end of the ride you will say that it was all worth it. "

This Man Confessed - "Jodi has done an amazing job with the conclusion of Ava and Jesse's story. Their story was one heck of an emotional roller coaster ride with many twists and turns along the way. Ms. Malpas took two characters who are so opposite but yet completely made for each and made you fall in love with them. Ava and Jesse had a love that was so intense, and raw and real. They fought, they argued, secrets were revealed that could destroy them. But their love for each other was so strong that no matter what obstacle they faced they fought to the end and faced it together. This Man Trilogy will make you laugh, smile, and even cry. There are moments where you become frustrated and angry. But every emotion, every tear, every frustrated moment where you want to throw your e-reader and slap someone was completely worth it. It was a heck of a journey but one worth taking. Ms. Malpas wrapped up their story in the perfect way that will leave you with a smile. And let's talk about the end! The epilogue was just simply FANTASTIC!! This Man trilogy is by far one of my favorite trilogies to date and I am sad to see it end. I am a huge fan of Jodi's and her writing and cannot wait to see what she has in store for us in the future. I'm hoping for a little of Sam and Kate....hint, hint!

Another amazing job by Jodi Ellen Malpas.....end of!!

Driven and Fueled by K. Bromberg

Driven by K. Bromberg -The author did an amazing job with Driven. You feel the connection with the characters in such a way that you go through the emotions with them. There are moments when you get that feeling in your stomach and you are afraid to turn the page. There is the sweet side of their relationship that will make you smile. Their relationship is intense and complicated and will frustrate you, but it is a ride that is worth taking. You will fall in love with these two damaged people and want nothing more than for them to find the happiness that they deserve. Driven was one roller coaster ride of emotions and when it was over I was left staring at my e-reader wondering what just happened. Any book that can bring out that much emotion, make me happy one minute and heart broken the next and allow me to connect with the characters on an emotional level the way Driven did, is definitely a book worth reading. Amazing job by K. Bromberg.

Fueled by K. Bromberg "If you thought Driven was a roller coaster ride of emotions, then get ready for Fueled. You will experience the emotions of Colton's past right along with him. K. Bromberg did a fantastic job with the connection to these two damaged characters. My heart broke for Colton and everything that he experienced as a child and I now understand him in a way that just makes me love him even more. Rylee has had her share of pain in her past as well and between the two of them they need each other to get past it, whether they realize it or not. They are two damaged souls, one who believes in love and the relationship that they have. While the other is afraid of what the word love really means for him and is afraid to open his heart. Rylee and Colton still have that undeniable chemistry, their relationship is still just as intense and passionate as ever before. Their relationship is far from perfect and to say it has its up and downs would be an understatement. But we see them try to work through their pain and their emotions. We see them face all the challenges that come their way and try to to work through it. Fueled is full of drama and angst, some heart breaking moments and it will make you cry. But there are those moments where you will sigh and smile and be happy.

Bring Me Home by Cassia Leo  I loved every minute of this series but if I had to pick one book out of the three it would be Bring Me Home.  Cassia Leo did an amazing job with this one.  "The Shattered Hearts series is one that will stay with me. It is a series that I became very passionate about. I wanted to see Claire, Chris and Adam get their happily ever after. I went through and felt every emotion that these characters felt. Yes I wanted to throw my Ipad at times, yes there were moments where I had knots in my stomach, times where I had to take a step back and just breathe. This series completely broke my heart at times, made me angry, frustrated, and sad. And then there were the sweets moments where I found myself smiling and happy. But in the end every tear shed, every frustrated moment, every heartache was worth it, because Cassia Leo delivered an ending that will leave you smiling for days. The ending was simply perfect. That is honestly the only way to describe it."

Room For You by Beth Eheman "This is Beth Ehemann's debut novel and she did such amazing job with it.  She created characters that you can relate to and fall in love with.  There was this tender moment between Kacie and Brody when they professed their love for each other that caused some tears to be shed and left me with a smile from ear to ear.  The words and the emotion behind them were just so beautiful.   Room for You is a beautifully written story of finding love when least expected.  Brody and Kacie were both missing something from their lives that they didn't realize they needed or wanted until they found each other.  Their journey together had its ups and downs.  There was just the right amount of drama and angst, some tears were shed and a lot of happy swoon worthy moments that will melt your heart.  I instantly fell in love with Kacie and Brody and I know that you will too.  And Oh my god lets not forget about  the end!  All I can say is that I cannot wait for the next one!"

In the Fields by Willow Aster "In the Fields was an emotional read from beginning to end, and one that I could not put down. Willow Aster did such an amazing job with this story. Her writing is flawless. She makes you feel this strong connection that you feel with the characters that is so real, it's as if you are going through it with them. My heart broke for Caroline and Isaiah over and over again, for everything that they went through. There are moments that are extremely gut wrenching, scenes that will break your heart, and those OMG moments that leave you staring at your e-reader wondering if that just happened. In the Fields will make you cry, both happy and sad tears. I was completely blow away by this story. In the Fields is so much more than just a love story. It is a beautiful, amazing story about fighting for love, fighting for what you believe in. It is about getting a second chance at love and happiness. It is by far one of my favorite books this year and a book that everyone should read. It is one of those books that will touch your heart and stay with you forever. Absolutely amazing job by Willow Aster."

Wethering the Storm by Samantha Towle We all fell in love with Jake Wethers in The Mighty Storm and I honestly cannot get enough of him.   I waited patiently for the conclusion to Tru and Jake's story and Samantha Towle did not disappoint with Wethering the Storm.  It was more than I could have ever expected.  I not only fell in love with Jake all over again but I fell in love with Tru.  She was an amazing heroine.  Her and Jake were meant to be together and we saw that in both books.  The were two people who loved each other since they were kids.  And even though they spent some time apart they found their way back to each other.  They loved each other and were there for each other in every way possible.  Their journey wasn't always easy but the love they had for each other helped them survive the obstacles that life threw their way.  Jake loves Tru with everything he has and you see just how much by his actions.    I loved the sweet and tender moments they shared in this book.  I laughed and cried right along with them.  Wethering the Storm was the perfect ending to an amazing story.  It left me with a huge smile on my face and a Jake and Tru hangover for days.

Unbreakable by Rebecca Shea - "Unbreakable will make you happy, and smiling and all warm in fuzzy inside and then just shatter you next moment.  Everything that happened to Jess and what came after was so real and raw and so intense.  You felt as if you were there going through it all with them.  There were some moments where I cried and then moments where I just sobbed, and yes I am talking a real ugly cry.  This book touched me on so many levels.  It is an emotional roller coaster of a ride and one that is worth every minute and every tear.  It is one of those books that will stay with your forever.  For her debut novel, Rebecca Shea did a fantastic job.  Gabe and Jess's journey will rip your heart out and completely shred it, but Ms. Shea did a wonderful job piecing it all back together again and leaving you with a smile in the end.   A must read!  Just be sure to have tissues handy. Seeking Havok by Lila Felix   I am a huge fan of anything that Lila Felix writes so it was hard to pick just one.  But Seeking Havok is probably my favorite one.
"Havok and Fade were perfect together. You could feel the chemistry and love between the two of them. Cal wanted what was best for Havok even if that meant he had to make sacrifices. Havok spent so much of her life taking care of the one person who should have been taking care of Havok. And all though she was strong and independent and managed just fine on her own, deep down she was broken. It was Havok's time to be loved, to break free from her mother and find herself.
Seeking Havok still has that humor and wittiness about it that I love in Lila's books but it also deals with a few deeper issues that we aren't used to seeing from this author. Issues that she did an amazing job with. Seeking Havok will make you laugh, cry, and keep you on the edge of your seat. There was a moment that completely shocked me and I never saw coming. You will fall in love with Cal and Havok and love every minute of their journey together. It wasn't an easy one but it is one that will leave you smiling with happy tears in the end. Lila completely hit this one out of the park. Such an amazing read!

Worthy of Redemption by L.D. Davis - "I loved Accidentally on Purpose and I, like most people who read it, was not a fan of Kyle's at all. When I found out that he would be getting his story I could not wait to read it. I needed to know all about Kyle. Why he was the way he was, what happened to him that caused all that pain and I needed to know about that night that would forever haunt him. L.D. Davis did an amazing job with his story. She managed to take a character who I did not like at all, and made me fall in love with him. And yes, you read that correctly. I fell in Love with Kyle Sterling in Worthy of Redemption.
There is so much depth to this story that I will not go into because you need to experience it all for yourself. There are Lily's issues with her family and her past that she needs to confront. We see Emmy and Luke and see how Emmy has affected Kyle and his thoughts. And how he needs her to help him move on. Lily and Kyle's journey is a very emotional one. There were moments I laughed, mostly at Kyle because even though I loved him, he was still a douche at times and I found myself just laughing at how much of an ass he was. There were moments where he was so sweet with Lily and then moments where he completely frustrated me and I wanted to kill him all over again. After seeing all that Kyle has been through, you truly understand him in so many ways. When you get past the surface of Kyle Sterling you will find that he really is an amazing guy that will capture your heart.

Tangled by Emma Chase - Tangled is told from Drew's POV, but what I loved the most is the unique way that the author told the story.  It felt like you were sitting in your den watching a tape of The Drew Evan's Story while he narrated it all.  With him pausing at certain moments, and suddenly going off on some tangent about a past memory or his theories on life and woman.  He takes you on the journey that was his life for the past four months and gives the reader an inside look as to how he found the woman of his dreams and fell in love, and how he ended up on his couch for 7 days with the "flu". Drew may have been arrogant, and pompous and even obnoxious at times, but deep down he had a good heart and made up for it all in the end.  The relationship that he has with his niece was adorable and comical at the same time.  It made you love him that much more.  I love Drew and Kate's story and I know you will to.   Emma Chase did such a wonderful job with this story and connecting the reader to the characters.  I look forward to more from Ms. Chase in the future.

Falling Into You by Jasinda Wilder Jasinda Wilder is an amazingly talented writer.  She manages to write this story in a way that connects the reader with the characters on such a personal level.  I went through every emotion that they did, as if I was the one actually going through it.  I laughed, smiled and even cried when they did.  There are deep issues that the both of them went through that will break your heart.  But watching them slowly heal and move on together is what makes this story amazing.  It's about two people who are so broken and so damaged from their past, finding each other and learning to live again.
I went through the roller coaster of emotions with these characters, and yes I ugly cried through it.  But the truth is I would do it all over again.  This is one of those books that will stay with you forever and one book you do not want to miss.  Amazing job by Ms. Wilder.

Collide and Pulse by Gail McHugh

Collide Overall I loved this book. This book was filled with two things I love in a book: drama and angst. I love when a book makes you smile, laugh and even shed a tear, and this book did all of those. Just when you think you know what is going to happen the author throws some twists in there and it changes everything. Just when you think things are going to go great and you are smiling, bam!! There is another twist that makes your heart just break and you become frustrated all over again. Let me warn you, this book does not tie up the characters' stories in a nice pretty bow.
My heart broke for Gavin at times. I loved Gavin and if at all possible, loved him even more in the end. This was a great ride of emotions and definitely a must read. I actually read the ending twice because it was one of those endings that I couldn't stop thinking about.

Pulse by Gail McHugh - Pulse is Gavin and Emily's emotional journey to find their happiness together.  They had some tough issues to face, but they faced them together.  Their journey will make you laugh, smile, cry, gasp out loud and cause you're hart to flutter.  There are those moments where you get that knot in your stomach and are afraid to continue to the next page.  There are twists and turns that will shock you and leave you wondering if that just happened!  Pulse will rip your heart out, only to put it back together again in the most beautiful way possible.  The ending was simply the perfect ending that left me with a smile.  Gail McHugh has created characters that I have become so passionate about, and fallen in love with.  I truly loved Gavin and Emily together and Gail has written their story in such an amazing way that you feel the emotions that they go through.  You feel the hurt and pain with them, you see and feel the immense amount of love that they have for each other.  I loved every minute of this story and sad to see it end.  An amazing job by Gail McHugh!!

The Forever of Ella and Micha by Jessica SorrensenI think I fell in love with Micha even more in this book. Micha is still the sexy bad boy, who will make you laugh with his flirty banter, but he is so in love with Ella and wants nothing but the best for her that he will completely melt your heart. He is there for her and patient with her and tries to be everything she needs him to be, while she struggles with the issues that have plagued her for so long. Their journey is one that will make you laugh and cry. Your heart will break for Ella and the pain that she is going through. But you will also feel the heartache that Micha goes through in fighting for the woman he loves. You want nothing more than for these two broken souls to find their "Forever". It is definitely a rough journey towards finding their forever, one with many bumps along the way. But one that is worth taking. Another amazing job by Jessica Sorensen and the prefect ending to their story.

The Redemption of Callie and Kayden by Jessica Sorrensen - This was an extremely emotional read for me. Most of the time I just felt so sad and heart broken for these two characters, especially Kayden. I always look forward to Jessica Sorensen's books and know that they are never going to be an easy happy read. And that's what I love about them. She explores deep issues in her stories and through her amazing writing and her way with words she manages to bring out these emotions in the reader. You feel like you are going through the pain and hurt with her characters. I felt what Kayden and Callie were going through. And most of the time I was so sad for them, especially Kayden. I wanted to slap his mother and tell her to wake up because her actions completely angered me. This was an emotional and heart warming read. There were moments that will touch your heart as well. The bond that these two characters have is so beautiful. I didn't know going into this book that there was going to be a third book, so when I got to the end there were still some questions that needed to be answered. And the ending was left a little open but to be honest the ending completely worked for me because it was true to the story.  Another fantastic job by Jessica Sorensen.

A is for Alpha Male by Laurel Ulen Curtis - Loved, loved loved this book.  I love all of Laurel's books but this is probably my favorite of hers.  I want my own Dan Smith!  A is for Alpha Male is a really fun and enjoyable read. It has a totally swoon worthy hero, a few twists towards the end, a little bit of drama and plenty of laugh out loud moments. This is one of those books that will keep you smiling and one you just cannot put down. A book that you can relate to in so many ways, from the Zack Morris references to talking about a man's junk. And an ending that was simply perfect! This book is about a mother/daughter road trip with a love story in between. Laurel Ulen Curtis did a fantastic job with the writing, and the characters. I fell in love with Haley and Dan and thought that they were so perfect for each other. I am really hoping for Dan's POV because I would love to get in his head. Looking forward to the next on in this series. This is a must read!

Before We Fall by Courtney Cole - I loved this whole series and fell in love with the hero in each book, especially Pax (book 1).  But I think that Before We Fall was the best one of the series.  Ms. Cole took this one up a notch and did a fantastic job.
As the reader you felt the emotions that these characters felt.  My heart broke for them and everything that they both went through.  And slowly but surely we find out what pushed Dominic into the world he was currently in.  What brought about the pain and the guilt that he has been carrying around.  There were hints of it along the way but when was all revealed you couldn't help but feel every emotion that he was going through.  You couldn't help but root for this guy who appeared to be a cocky jerk at times.  Because you understood his reasons for being a jerk, you knew what he was really hiding from.  He deserved t be happy and deserved to be loved.
Before We Fall as an amazing read.  It was emotional, heart breaking, angsty and sexy all in one.  After all the heartache, and emotions that you go through you will be left with a smile in the end.  Another fantastic job by Ms. Cole.

Trudy Stiles did an amazing job with this story. I'm not sure if my words did this book justice but can tell you that it is a must read for all. Have some tissue handy, there was one particular moment that had me in tears. I cannot wait for the next one!

An Unplanned Life by Beth Rinyu - I first fell in love with Dailan and Nicole in An Unplanned Lesson.  I loved the first book but loved this one so much more for so many reasons.  One of those reasons being how real and true to life it is.  Dailan and Nicole's journey was a emotional one. There was a moment or two where I got those knots in my stomach and my heart completely broke for them. I could not put this book down. I needed to know that these two would be OK, that they would work past their issues. Dailan is an amazing man, a wonderful husband and father. And while there were moments where I wanted to slap both him and Nicole and became so frustrated with them, I still loved them both in the end. Nicole is a woman that I think so many people can relate to in many ways, myself included. Beth Rinyu did an amazing job with this story. She knows how to bring out all of the emotions in the reader. She knows how to create a story that is real life. Their issues in their marriage didn't just affect the two of them but those round them as well. This wasn't just about Nicole and Dailan it was also about their family. This book will make you laugh, cry, frustrated, annoyed and break your heart. But there are also those swoon worthy moments that will melt your heart and leave you smiling in the end. Amazing job by Beth Rinyu. Thank you for giving us more of Dailan and Nicole!

The Rocker Series (because I can't pick just one) by Terri Anne Browning - I absolutely love this series.  And I am not sure that I can just pick one in the series that is my favorite.  If I really had to choose it would probably be The Rocker That holds Me and The Rocker That Holds Her.  Maybe it's because I just love Emmie and Nik together and can't get enough of them.  But every book in the series was fantastic.  Each member of Demon's Wings has there own story to tell, some heart breaking at times.  They grew up together, and are each others family.  They are not just band mates they are brothers in every sense of the word.  They love each other, protect each other and look out for each other.  And we see how important they are to each other in each book.  We see what Emmie's relationship is with each member and how important she is to them.  But we also see the woman that they each find and fall in love with.   The Rocker series explores the lives of four men whose childhood was anything but wonderful.  They all have demons from their past that they need to move on from.  But having each other and the woman they love, they are able to overcome it all.  Fall in love with Nik, Emmie, Jesse, Layla, Drake, Lane, Shane and Harper.  Each one a has a story to tell and Terri Anne Browning does a terrific job telling it.  You connect with every character, feel the emotions they go through and feel like you are a  part of their lives.  Excellent series!

Call Me Crazy by Quinn Loftis - Call Me Crazy was an emotional roller coaster that was written in such a way that you felt every emotion the character went through. Tally's story was so real and raw and genuine. It is a heart wrenching story of a young girl's struggles with bi-polar disorder. Leaning how to not feel broken, how to love yourself, let others love you and to learn how to live. Tally was an amazing a strong heroine. There were moments and situations that occurred that I believe were very defining moments in Tally's struggle and watching her go through them will break your heart. But she is strong and is a fighter. This was a beautifully written story that will touch your heart. I am not sure that my words can really do this book justice, but I have to say that Call Me Crazy is a must read. Any book that can cause you to feel the emotions right along with the character, to feel that connection with them and to simply fall in love with them is an amazing book. Price of a Kiss by Linda Kage - Mason, Mason, Mason (sigh)  He is one of the many reasons why I loved this story.  Ms. Kage did such a wonderful job with this story and the character development.   While it is about two people who start out as friends and eventually become lovers, it had it's own uniqueness to it.  Mason and Reese definitely had that sexual chemistry between them.  I loved the back and forth flirting and banter between them.  This story will make you laugh, cry, and even frustrated at times, but in the end leave you smiling.  I fell in love with Mason and Reese and wanted to see them get their happily ever after.  They had some rocky moments, even as just friends, but they both loved each other and needed each other.  Amazing job by Linda Kage.  A sweet, fun and wonderful read!

Always Been Mine by Carina Adams - Always Been Mine is Carina Adams' debut novel and she did a fantastic job with it.  It was one of those books that I could not put down and thought about for days after.  I even found myself re-reading some of my favorite parts, which included Matty of course.  I absolutely loved that man.  He is hot and sexy, caring, sweet and very protective of Joe.  I think you can sense early on how much he loves her but was never able to have her.  So her friendship was the next best thing and something that he treasured.  In my opinion his actions alone, especially in one specific situation, spoke volumes about how much he loved her.
Matty and Joes finally have a chance to be together but not everything in life is that simple. There are many obstacles in their way.  They both have exes that are not happy with their relationship, then there are secrets and insecurities that also come into play.  Always Been Mine has it all; drama, angst, heartbreaking moments, an ex bitch that I wanted to slap on more than one occasion, and that moment when I had knots in my stomach and I found myself shaking my head, yelling at my Ipad, "No, No, please don't go there."  This was a fantastic read and I cannot wait for the next one.  The ending was perfect and I felt true to the story.  This is not a cliffhanger but there are some questions left unanswered and the door has been left open for more of Matty and Joe, which I am very excited about.

Off Limits by Sawyer Bennett - While I love every book in this series I have to say that Off Limits is my favorite.  Maybe it's because of the emotions you go through while reading or just simply because I fell in love with Nix Caldwell.  I loved Nix and Emily together. The chemistry between the two of them was off the charts. Their first time together, we saw a dominant side of Nix that was hot and sexy. Despite his anger issues and the fact that all he wanted was a sexual relationship, you see how much he actually cares for Emily and wants to protect her. He does have a sweet side to him that will melt your heart. I love watching the transformation that Emily went through from the first book to this one. She has certainly grown and matured and I fell in love with her character. Sawyer Bennett has done an amazing job with this story about a man, who is so broken and closed off, being able to find love when least expected. I became a fan of Sawyer's after reading Off Sides, but I think she took this one to the next level. We see Nix dealing with some deeper issues and see how he finally is able to come to terms with it all and move on from it. The ending was just beautiful and will make you both smile and cry. And I loved that we also got to see a piece of Ryan and Danny's HEA as well. Another job well done by Ms. Bennett!

Fall For Me by Ann Lister This was such a beautiful, love story between two people who never expected to find love the way that they did. It shows you that it doesn't matter who you love or what sex they are, what matters is who makes you happy in life. It is about two men who have formed an unlikely friendship that led to the love and happiness that they have both been searching for and both deserve. Ann Lister has a way of connecting these two characters with her readers. I fell in love with both Dagger and Ryan from the start. Fall for Me is one of those books that sucks you in from the beginning and you just cannot put down. There is a lot more to this story and other issues that they deal with, but I don't want to go into too much detail, because I want you to experience their journey for yourself. This is definitely a must read, and I cannot wait for Zander's story. Amazing job by Ann Lister!

Learning to Live by RD Cole - Learning to Live is one of those books that completely sucks you in with the prologue. It is one of those books where you heart completely breaks for the main character right from the start and you know that it is going to be one heck of an emotional journey. It was an emotional, heart breaking, wonderful and amazing story of strength, love passion, trust and simply learning to live life again. This book will make you laugh, cry and will definitely cause some swooning. I loved watching Tru and Jaxon's friendship blossom into something more. And the chemistry between the two of them was undeniable and hot. I loved how sweet and tender he was with Tru. He knew from the moment he met her that she was his forever, he just needed to make her see that he was hers. He found his Tru Love and had no intention of letting her go.

True Love Story by Willow Aster - Willow Aster is a talented writer who did an amazing job with this love story. You felt a strong connection with the characters from the first page. This was a very emotional journey which will make you laugh, cry, and break your heart. Sparrow is a heroine that most woman can relate too and despite his mistakes you will fall in love with Ian. I wanted to hate Ian so much for what he did but the truth is I just couldn't. Maybe it is because I felt he was so broken, and his fears and insecurities about not being good enough for Sparrow played a part in his betrayal. But I can honestly say that he definitely proved himself in the end. The ending was done so beautifully and will leave you with a smile. This is a must read. I look forward to reading more from Willow Aster in the future. A job well done!

Three of Diamonds by W. Ferraro I love every book in this series but if I have to pick just one I am going with Wes.  He is my fave Hamden Hottie.  Maybe because he was such a mystery when we met him in the first two books which made him sexy and intriguing.
I am a huge fan of this series and W. Ferraro's writing.  Each book in this series has a different story to tell.  Each character is unique in their own way.  I love that the woman in this series are curvy, have imperfections and insecurities that all us woman can relate to.  And lets not forget about the men who will melt your heart and just keep getting hotter and hotter.  W. makes you fall in love with her characters.  She writes their story in a way that you feel connected with the characters, like you are a part of their "circle" and their family.  And I love that we continue to see the characters in each book.
Ms. Ferraro definitely stepped it up with this book in so many ways, with the sex club, Lola caring for her brother with down syndrome and then there is the meaning behind her tattoo, which I will not get into.  But she completely nailed it on all accounts.  And then there are the sex scenes.   Let me just say that Wendy knows how to write a sex scene.  Each book has aleast one memorable sex scene in it and this one is no different.  After reading Three of Diamonds you will get the sudden urge to want to go horseback riding or find a condo with a floor to ceiling window overlooking the city.  Keep a fan handy while reading, seriously they are that HOT!
