Twisted is
one of those novels that you can’t disclose too much information without
spoiling a major plotline. It opens with Kate Brooks, back in her hometown of
Greenville, Ohio, alone. A series of flashbacks reveals lots of adventurous sex
between Kate and Drew has taken place (are you surprised?) and they are
settling in after their first two years of a roller coaster/ tilt a whirl
courtship. But then something happens, a few somethings actually, and Kate leaves
New York. And Drew. Alone.
With the
exception of the epilogue, the story is told from Kate’s POV. The difference
between this one and Tangled or Holy Frigging Matrimony, is the seriousness of
the story. Yes, there are laugh out loud moments as these two really are witty
and snarky and have the most wicked sense of humor, but this one has some sad,
tears in your eyes moments, and they are delicious.
Drew is at
his most vulnerable and even goes against his usual alpha male persona and dare
I say it…grovels to Kate, willing to take any crumb she is willing to give to
him. My heart hurt for him. There is one big misunderstanding and so many
follow in that one’s wake, like a snowball quickly turning into an avalanche.
“I’ve given it a lot of thought. You
went right from Warren to me, jumped in with both feet. You’ve never
just…screwed around. Played the field. So…if
you want to hook up with other people”-his jaw tightens, like the words
are trying to stay in, and he has to force them out-I’m okay with that.” My
face pinches with confusion. “You came all this way, to tell me you want us
to…see other people?” he swallows hard. “Yeah. You know-as long as I still get
to be in the rotation.”
When all is
resolved, and tied up with a neat, pretty little bow, okay maybe with some tape
and tissue paper-this is Drew and Kate we are talking about here- I loved them
even more. Fortunately, Billy, Dee Dee and Matthew will all feature in the next
book, Tamed, and I can still visit with this rich canvass of characters.

By day, Emma Chase is a devoted wife and mother of two who resides in a small, rural town in New Jersey. By night she is a keyboard crusader, toiling away the hours to bring her colorful characters and their endless antics to life. She has a long standing love/hate relationship with caffeine.
Emma is an avid reader. Before her children were born she was known to consume whole books in a single day. Writing has also always been a passion and with the 2013 release of her debut romantic comedy, Tangled, the ability to now call herself an author is nothing less than a dream come true.
Tangled was really good, but when I read it, I wasn't expecting a sequel. This sounds really good, though, so I will put it on my list, with maybe a re-read of Tangled first! :)
