Review: Change of Hart by M.E. Carter

My name is Jason Hart.

As the best defensive lineman in the country, I eat, sleep and breathe football. And I like it that way. I’ve only got a few more years before I’ll have to retire, so expending energy on anything other than football seems like a waste of time.

That is, until I have a random meeting with a little boy who just lost his father. We have more in common than you might think and it creates an unlikely bond. As our friendship grows, so do my feelings for his mother.

I know Addison, as a recent widow, isn’t ready to date again. But I want to get to know her better, in spite of all her rejections.

Is it possible that I, a self-proclaimed bachelor, could be having a Change of Hart?

My name is Jason Hart.

He is the best defensive lineman for the Dallas Cowboys.  He has one thing on his mind and one thing only.  I know what you're thinking- it’s a woman, but your wrong, it's football.  He has everything that he has ever wanted.  Nothing is missing in his life, till he has a chance meeting with a little boy.

“I love you, Jason.  I knew you’d come for my birthday.  Thank you for coming to see me.  I love you so much.  You are my hero.”
I looked at Lindsay who was as wide-eyed as I felt.
What the hell?

That meeting threw Jason off his axis.  He doesn’t know why, but after that meeting he just can’t shake this kid from his mind.  He’s been there, in this kid's shoes, he knows what it's like to lose your dad, so he can’t help but want to do something.  What he wasn’t prepared for was Addison, Jaxon’s mother.

I was expecting someone in her mid to late 30s.  Maybe older.  But she couldn’t have been older than 30.  If that.  And she was beautiful.  Not in a tall and skinny super model way.  But in a real woman way.  Her dark brown hair came down just below her shoulders and when she looked at me and put out her hand for me to shake, her smile about knocked me on my ass.

So he's smitten.  He wants to help in any way he can, except Addison is guarded.  Not only is she a widow, but her ex was a cheating scum bag.  Her past has put her in a place were she has walls up all along heart, doubting that a man could actually want her.

She stretched up on her toes and kissed me.

Right on the lips.
I was stunned for a moment, but quickly remembered what to do and kissed her back.  I kissed her softly and slowly, just wanting to enjoy the moment.  When she didn’t pull away, my hands made their way to her face and I tilted her to the side so I could slide my tongue into her mouth.

For once he has to actually work to get a date, imagine that thought. Him, Mr. Big Stars, having to work for it, but just think of how good the reward could be.

Addison isn’t sure this is the right choice, but she can’t seem to stay away from Jason.  He makes her feel things, and he makes her feel beautiful, but most of all, he wants her. But is she ready for the fame that goes along with his job?  Is she ready for the fake stories that pop up?  Is it possible that Addison is ready to have a change of Hart?
