Brooke
I’ve come from a privileged life and an even more privileged upbringing. My parents taught me right from wrong and everything in between… except I wanted the gray area. I wanted to live life on the edge with the possibility of falling over. I didn’t care about the consequences because I had no heart…
I left that on the floor of my parents’ bedroom door, shattered.
And never went back to pick up the pieces.
Devon
Family first.
I learned the meaning of the word hate.
I learned that life is a battlefield and I stood frontline.
I learned that praying doesn’t work and God doesn’t listen.
And I learned how to be a man…
All at the receiving end of my father’s fists, my mother’s tears, and my sisters screams.
You can’t run away from your past…
It will always find you, especially when you’re asleep.

Tempting Stars by Natasha Gentile
This
story is about Brooke and Devon. I feel
in love with Brooke when she was in VIP and then MVP. Devon, well I had a hate relationship with
him. I have to be honest I really wasn’t
looking forward to his story; as I was more interested in Brooke. Well let me tell you I was so wrong! M. Robinson said that I would fall in love
with him, and well she was right on. It
was touch and go there, but in the end I fell in love with the damaged soul.
From
the moment that Brooke showed up in VIP we were all wondering who this girl
was. She had a mystery about her. You knew that her back story would be great, but
what we got was so much better.
Brooke
is 16 at the beginning of this story. For a girl, turning 16 is everything. It’s called Sweet Sixteen for a reason, for
Brooke it was everything she expected it to be.
Bred
from a privileged family, rich in many ways, money was never an issue. But like everyone knows nothing is ever quite
what it seems. And this was no
exception. Things are not always what they
seem, and she learnt that the hard way.
Secrets. They can harbor inside
you and make your soul hollow.
You are the product of your environment, you reap what you sow,
and then you beg for forgiveness. On
your knees, with your hands clasped, praying to the Lord above to take away
your sins.
At
16 when you are looking into the face of the secrets from those around you, you
aren’t sure what the right and wrong thing is.
You have this picture in your head of what life is, what you think trust
should be, what love should be, but when it’s shattered all you know is that
you will never ever give yourself to someone. You will never ever cave to
someone, you will never ever whisper those three words that everyone loves to
hear. I. Love. You.
She
closes herself off to everyone that loves her, totally blocks out her heart,
and becomes a VIP.
I was made for a life of pleasure.
I was made for sex
I was made to be a goddamn..
VIP
Becoming
a VIP she turns to sex for feeling, it’s the only time that she feels
reassurance. The only time she feels
whole. Till….
Devon Devon Devon. When you first walked into VIP I really liked
you, you were wise beyond your years and we just knew that your story would be
quite fascinating. Well your story, it
broke my heart.
We all have a past, present,
and future.
However, there are things
you will never be able to run away from.
As much as you want to, as much as you try, it will always be there.
You can’t outrun it.
It will always find
you. It will haunt your dreams-nigh or
day, awake or asleep.
You can’t hind from your
mind.
You can’t escape the
memories.
This
man has to have the biggest heart out there.
For him it has always been family first.
His mother, his sisters, they are
what he lives and breaths for. When he
became 16 his father’s death made him the man of the house. He took that role very seriously. He worked his butt off to make sure his
mother and sisters never lacked for anything that they wanted. When he learnt that he inherited a successful
bar in South Beach, he put his degree to good use and blew it up. He was the “it” guy. He had everything that he could every want,
he had everything that he needed, except he couldn’t run from his past. He couldn’t run from the pain.
I went into the bathroom, shutting the door behind me and
turning on the shower.
I looked in the mirror and the reflection was the same as it was
when I was a child.
Broken.
These
two beautiful broken souls. You just want
to hug them and tell them that with everything that is broken, comes the beauty
of putting it back together, making you perfect.
When
these two finally crossed paths they were drawn to each other, both for
different reasons. He wanted to save
her, she wanted to have sex with him. He
saw through her, he saw past her pain, he saw what she didn’t show anyone. Except if you get too close she shuts down.
It’s as if she could read my mind…And just like that her eyes
glazed over and it was gone.
She wasn’t Bambi anymore.
She was VIP.
He
knows what she does, she tells him what she does. She is proud of who she is and doesn’t hide
it. What starts out as a lot of sexual
tension, ends up with a beautiful friendship.
Well for Brooke it’s a friendship for Devon, he’s hooked, she is
it. He sees her, all of her and from
that first moment he knows that she will be his. No matter what he needs to do
to get her.
In that moment, I realized why she was a VIP. It’s because she didn’t have to hide
anymore. She was free from the secrets
that she held so deeply in her heart.
And it only made me want to know her more.
I wanted all of her.
Brooke, she is one tough cookie, she isn’t just going to
change because he said so. No way, she makes the rules of this game, she isn’t
letting anyone in. She’s been there,
she’s done that, she has her heart so guarded it’s like getting into Fort
Knox. Imagine when the friendship she
thinks she is handling perfectly, turns into more. Imagine the shock, imagine the horror.
I wanted to engrain it in my memory.
To take a piece of him home with me.
The way he affected my mind and my heart was petrifying, but it was so
real.
The emotion…
I could touch it.
I could feel it.
I could taste it.
You want, you hope, you are praying that these two just
trust in each other. You are gasping for
air, while your heart palpitates waiting for the other shoe to drop. Hoping that they too, can see the happily
ever after in each other. Both broken
halves wanting to be together, just to be whole. It is easy to say, but harder to do. Can you just trust him not to hurt you, when
all you have ever known was lies and broken promises? Can you trust her to make
the bad memories go away and fill them with new memories, happiness, love and
family? It is all so tempting, but it
can’t always be bad, right?
We were two broken people that had found their way to on another.

I was there, but I wasn’t.
I danced around in a sea of emptiness and longing, it moved around me easily, carelessly, harshly.
It was all and it was nothing.
It made me full and it made me empty.
It pleased me and it dismayed me.
I didn’t care. I was there to do a job. To be a VIP. I played my part beautifully, just as I always did. Letting myself get taken away on empty promises of nothing, but somehow seemed like everything.
