Review: Selling Satisfaction by Ashley Beale

Whore. Slut. Homewrecker.
Those are a few names associated with what Brenna Konners does for a living- and she can't argue. After all, she is an escort.

Being put into foster care at only eight years old, Brenna found any way to cope with her pain and loneliness. Drugs and alcohol never did much for her. It was when she found the power in which sex holds, she knew she found an addiction unlike any other. The idea of love is vacant. There is nothing anyone can give her that'll make her change her life. She has it all; a nice condo, a gorgeous car, all the money she could imagine, and more.

That is until an alluring, persistent man named Everett moves in downstairs.

Everett Burke is great at being a detective, but one massive screw up sends him home to pack his bags. His new assignment in a different state has him bringing down a prestigious escort business.

It doesn't take long for Everett to fall for his sexy and mysterious neighbor, Brenna. He attempts to unearth her secrets, only to find more. As she opens up to him, he wants to return the favor, but being a detective means he has to lie about his career. It pains him to keep things hidden from Brenna, but nothing hurts him more than when he opens the hotel room one night to find out she is part of the same business he is planning to expose.

Review by Jen Skewes

When I first read the blurb for Selling Satisfaction immediately I wanted to know where I sign up.  I could not wait to read this book.  I have read most of Ashley Beale’s books but I can honestly say that for me personally this is by far her best work.  From the moment I started I did not want to put it down.  I fell in love with these characters and felt it all with them.

Brenna has had a tough life.  What she experienced at the young age of eight is something that no child should ever have to go through.  She went from foster home to foster home and as she got older she found that the best way for her to cope was through sex.  It gave her what she needed without having to fall in love or attach herself to someone.  At the age of 17 she becomes a paid escort and it is the perfect job for her.  She loves what she does and loves that he gives her the life she wants, filled with the material things that she loves.  She has no plans of falling in love or letting her guard down.  What she has been through has caused her to put this huge wall up, not letting anyone in.  But when Everett Burke moves in downstairs everything she thought she knew and wanted begins to change.

Everett is a detective who has just moved to Florida for work.  He is an undercover officer whose new assignment is to take down an escort business.  When he first sees Brenna he cannot stop thinking about her.  He knows she feels it too but thinks she is playing hard to get.  But he is not about to give up on her.  He offers his friendship which she accepts, but with rules.  And while Everett is fine with those rules at first, as time goes on he can’t help but break them.  He is falling for Brenna hard and fast, just as she is for him.  But they both have secrets, ones that can cause the other to run.  It is only a matter of time before those secrets come out.   When they do will it be the end of their relationship?

I cannot begin to tell you how much I loved this book.  First of all Everett was just a fantastic hero.  He knew that all Brenna wanted at the moment was friendships.  When it came to her he was patient, sweet, very protective and just a genuinely great guy.  And when you see his sexy side, watch out because it will make you melt.

Brenna was a strong and independent woman who had been through so much throughout her life.  And regardless of how she got there she is at a place in her life where she has everything she could possibly need.  Or at least she believes that she does.  At times I did have an issue with her because of her decisions but I never doubted her true feelings for Everett and how much she was falling for him.

I felt the connection between the two of them.  I loved the sexy banter between the two of them and the sweet moments that they shared.  There were also some sad moments as well but Ms. Beale gave us the perfect blend of sad moments, happy moments and the suspense.   As the reader you know both Brenna and Everett’s secret and you are waiting for that moment when it will completely blow up and then you are left wondering the whole time how it will end.  I read as fast as I could because I needed to know that no matter what happened they would be able to get past the secrets and the lies and find their happiness.  And when you get to that moment, holy crap my stomach was in knots.  I was so afraid of what would happen.  But when it came to that moment Ashley Beale nailed it.  What an amazing and beautiful love story that will make you feel it all with these characters.
