Review: Love Unexpected by Louise Bay

When the fierce redhead with the beautiful ass walks into the local bar, I can tell she's passing through. And I'm looking for distraction while I'm in town--a hot hook-up and nothing more before I head back to the city.

If she has secrets, I don't want to know them.

If she feels good underneath me, I don't want to think about it too hard.

If she's my future, I don't want to see it.

I'm Blake McKenna and I'm about to teach this Boston socialite how to forget every man who came before me.

When the future I had always imagined crumbles before my very eyes. I grab my two best friends and take a much needed vacation to the country.

My plan of swearing off men gets railroaded when on my first night of my vacation, I meet the hottest guy on the planet. I decide he could be the distraction I might just need.

I'm certainly not going to reveal my deepest secrets to him as we steal away each night hoping no one will notice.

And the last thing I'm going to do is fall in love for the first time in my life.

My name is Mackenzie Locke and I haven't got a handle on men. Not even a little bit. Not until Blake.

Previously titled Love Rehab.

A sexy, standalone, contemporary romance.

I always look forward to a new book by Louise Bay.  I love the characters that she creates who I always manage to all in love with.  Love Unexpected was no different  It is a really sweet story about finding yourself and falling in love unexpectedly.

Mackezie has been dumped once again by her fiancĂ©, this being the third time.  You would think that after the third time that maybe she just picks the wrong guys to fall in love with.  But that really isn’t the truth.  I think it’s more about Mackenzie’s need to please the men that she is with, to do everything she can to make them fall in love with her and continue to stay in love.  And in the end you have she needs to ask herself if she truly ever loved these men or was she in love with th idea of being married and in love.  After this last time she decides that it is time to work on herself.  She goes on a retreat with her two best friends to a ranch in the middle of nowhere to attend Love Rehab.  She is a loveaholic and needs to be able to find herself and lea how to put herself first before being able to find love again.

The night before the retreat starts, Mackenzie and her friends go out to a bar and they encourage her to just let loose for one night.  And she does., with a very sey uncowboy named Blake.  But the next morning she gets a little bit of a surprise when she sees who this man is and that she will be seeing more of him over the next few days.  Her nights are spent with Blake and her days are spent finding herself.  Blake and Mackenzie love spending time together but it is nothing more than sex.  Isn’t it?  Feelings start to come into play and these two realize that there is so much more to their relationship.  But Mackenzie is only in two for a few days.  So what will happen when their time is up?

I really enjoyed this book.  I loved Blake and how sweet and sexy he was.  But there was so much more to him.  I think he gave Mackenzie something that no other men had given her.  He made it about her, he showed her how worthy she is and how she deserves to be treated.   She never asked herself what she wanted and therefore was never able to actually ask for it either. But with Blake it was so different.  He taught her so much and made her see things about herself and her life that she never saw before.

I really liked Mackenzie even if at times she frustrated me.  She was a good person who just tried too hard.  But when she really digs deep and finds out her reasons I couldn’t help feel bad for her.  She is an amazing woman who deserved happiness and a man who truly loved her.
