Luca lives almost as a recluse, by her own choice. Well, maybe if she could choose she would not want to feel the fear and panic she does, but it is what it is. Her therapist/best friend, Dr. Maxwell helps her to cope. But he goes way beyond the role of a therapist, he accompanies her to all the exercises he encourages her to do. To stretch beyond the walls of her house.

That's why she is in New York. She needed to clean out her father's things and of course Doc is here with her. When she's rummaging around she finds a letter addressed to her from her pen pal, Griffin. They spent years writing to each other-he lived in England and she lived in the States. The letter has a California address. Griffin has lots of pent up anger that's he's directing at Luca. She stopped writing him with no warning or explanation. But she had a good reason, only Griffin never knew it.

Luca decides it's time to contact him again. But will he respond? Of course he will, he may think he moved on, but next to his mom, Luca was the most important person in his life. She's always been there, in the back of his mind.

It's almost as if no time has passed without them in each other's lives. The easy banter, the flirty little exchanges that get dirty and more personal with each letter. Yes, they still use snail mail. No texts, no emails. Letters. Paper. Postage.

Luca would like to meet face to face. But each time she brings up the subject, Griffin shoots it down. Why? Well, maybe because he's hiding a huge secret. One that will more than likely ruin any chance they have of being together as more than pen pals.

There's no cheating, and some mild angst. Of course there's an animal-this time a pig and yes, I want one too. Both characters are tortured in their own way, Luca's problems are more transparent, but Griffin wrestles with his own demons. I love second chance at love stories and even though technically they were never lovers the first time around, I still think of this as their second shot at getting it right.
