Our 5 star review

Ruining You was the perfect conclusion to the Ruining SeriesIt starts off two months after the tragic events that took place at the end of Ruining Me, which left the reader heart broken. Please note that if you have not read Ruining Me yet, then you need to read that first

As we learned in book 1, a very traumatic experience caused Jay to push away her closest friends and the love of her life, for fear of hurting those around her.  Just when she got both of them back, her secret came out, causing another traumatic moment in her life that left Jay with a tremendous amount of guilt and completely numb inside.

Here we are two months later and Jay is in a rehabilitation center trying to work through her guilt and fears and move forward with her life.  She isn't quite ready to face her famiily and friends, especially Cal and J.T's mom.  She needs more time to herself before she is ready to go home.  She meets Eli while in rehabilitation and I have to say that he is a wonderful addition to the list of supporting characters who are there for Jay. He has been to through similar events in his life and he simply "gets" Jay.  They form a friendship and bond that is truly heart warming.  She can open up to Eli and feel like she isn't being judged, he is exactly what she needs in her life right now.

When Jay does decide it is time to return home she has a cast of supporting characters waiting for her and to support her.  We see more of her parents in book 2, and see the support that wasn't there before.  Her secret is out and people are talking but it is the support of her family and friends that help her through this.  Her biggest fear is seeing Cal and JT's mom.  The reunion between Jay and Cal had me in tears, but in a loving and heart warming way.   There are other characters and events that take place.  A few twists and turns that you may not have seen coming, but I don't want to give too much away in this review.

Then there is Kane, who I don't think I can say enough about.  Kane completely warmed my heart and made me fall in love with him.  He is an amazing man who loves Jay with everything he has.  He wants to be with her and support her, but he understands that she needs time.  He is patient and loving with herHe says he will always be there for her, but cannot put his life on hold either.   The truth is he knows he will only love Jay, but her needs come first.  Kane knows and understands that Jay needs to love herself and become whole before she can love again.

Ruining You is the journey of a young woman on her way to becoming whole again.  Moving past the fears and guilt that has been haunting her for years.  Jay makes a promises that the only way to move on is to simply live.  And that is what she plans to do.  It is a tough road for her, but one she gets through with an amazing cast of characters by her side.  This is an emotional journey that will honestly will make you sob at times, but it is a journey that is worth it in the end.  Nicole Reed has done an amazing job telling this story that deals with real issues.  As a reader you become invested in the characters and the story.  There is a real connection to Jay and you feel the emotions that she is going through.  It was a very powerful and emotional story from the start of the first book all the way to the end of the second.  It is a beautiful, heart breaking story that will truly warm your heart in the end.  Excellent job by Nicole Reed.  I look forward to reading more from her in the future.
