Blog tour: What She Wants by Sheila Roberts

Summary:

What do women want?Jonathan Templar and his poker buddies can't figure it out. Take Jonathan, for instance. He's been in love with Lissa Castle since they were kids but, geek that he is, she's never seen him as her Mr. Perfect. He has one last shot—their high school reunion. Kyle Long is equally discouraged. The pretty receptionist at his office keeps passing him over for other guys who may be taller but are definitely not superior. And Adam Edwards might be the most successful of Jonathan's friends, but he isn't having any success on the home front. His wife's kicked him out.

When Jonathan stumbles on a romance novel at the Icicle Falls library sale, he knows he's found the love expert he's been seeking—Vanessa Valentine, top-selling romance author. At first his buddies laugh at him for reading romance novels, but soon they, too, realize that these stories are the world's best textbooks on love. Poker night becomes book club night…and when all is read and done, they're going to be the kind of men women want.

Our 4 star review

Sheila Roberts has done it again with this newest book from her Icicle Falls series. Friday night is guys' poker night. Three good friends; Jonathan, Kyle and Adam all share a common condition-they have no clue about women and what they want. Jonathan owes a computer repair company and is a self- proclaimed geek. Kyle lusts after the office hottie, Jillian, while the girl he should be dating, is right under his nose. Adam is married to Chelsea, who feels neglected and shows her appreciation for this neglect by tossing him
out of their home.

“I was like that marlin. You got me, and then you didn’t need to work anymore. I might as well have been hanging on the wall along with the fish.”

Looming around the corner is their 15 year high school reunion. Jonathan wonders if the love of his life (at least in his mind) Lissa Castle, local newscaster, will be going. Back in high school, she was always on the arm of Rand, Jonathan’s nemesis. While out shopping one day with his sister, Jonathan overhears girl talk about romance novels and how they contain all the knowledge necessary-kind of like the key to cracking the girl code. He starts to notice how many women read these novels. He thinks these novels might be on to something and gives them a try. It’s not long before Kyle and Adam follow suit. Flowers, venn diagrams, broken fan belts and mistaken dinner dates amongst other things check off the hilarious boxes for this book!

“Damn it all Lissa, I’ve been in love with you since we were kids. I thought that if I turned myself into some superstud, some romance hero, in time for the reunion, maybe for once, you’d see me. Really see me.”

Does Adam get his wife back, will Jonathan and his new wardrobe and dancing lessons ever get the attention of the object of his desire, and will Kyle ever see beyond the office bimbo? I don’t want to spoil the plot for anyone, but treat yourself to another wonderful Sheila Roberts novel. I wonder if there are any houses for sale in Icicle Falls?
