I had no idea what to expect; I knew nothing about the story or the author. This book turned out to be such a gem. It reads like a memoir from two perspectives Rye (a woman dealing with a serious diagnosis) and Jett (the hot, military man aka "BBQ" because he is a fine piece of meat) who falls in love with her.

"Jett asks her daily, "What's one thing beautiful you've seen today?" "The sun," I reply self-conscious. "You want to ask me?" He moves closer as he speaks. "You Rye." After all the time we've spent together, I'm still stunned that he can find me beautiful. He swoops me up in his arms and lays me on my bed. Kneeling down by my feet, he peels off his shirt, revealing his toned, muscular chest and shoulders. I'm awed by his strength and that someone this sexy is here with me. He smiles, eyes burning with desire, as he slowly..."

 I fell in love with these two characters as well as their family members for the love and bravery they each bring to the story. This is a bittersweet love story that takes you through the soul changing journey of how to live life seeing the beauty of life every day. I cried big tears throughout the book, but laughed too. I highly recommend reading.
