They have accepted the situation. Stewart, because his life is too busy for the sort of obligations that are required in a relationship. Paul, because he loves me too much to tell me no. And because my sexual appetite is such that one man has trouble keeping up.
So we exist, two parallel relationships, each running their own course, with no need for intersection or conflict. It works for us, for them, and for me. I don’t expect it to be a long-term situation. I know there is an expiration date on the easy perfection of our lives.
I should have paid more attention, should have looked around and noticed the woman who watched it all. She sat in the background and waited, tried to figure me out. Saw my two relationships, the love between us, and the moment that it all fell apart.
She hates me.
I don’t even know she exists.
She loves them. I love them.
And they love me.
EVERYTHING else hangs in the balance
love two men. I screw two men. I am in a relationship with them both, and they are both aware there is another. That is all they need to know, that is all I let them know. They don’t need to know a name; they don’t need to know anything, but that they are not alone in my heart.
4.5 Star Review by Jen Hagen
This is not your ordinary love triangle. It’s not a secret romance…it’s not
forbidden…it’s technically not cheating…and it’s what works for everybody
involved. I loved it! I am a love triangle addict and this filled
every craving I was seeking. It is told
from 4 different points of view. That is
not a typo, 4 people are telling this story.
Madison is the main storyteller and it is told in present tense with
glimpses into the past to let us know how she came about to have these two fabulous
men in her life. The story is sexy and
fun, while still adding that certain amount of angst and heartbreak to keep it
real. Let’s get started on how Madison
ended up being in love with 2 gorgeous men.
“I know what you’re
thinking. That dropped j aw and
disgusted look on your face? I’ve seen
it before. But wait. Please.
Don’t judge me quite yet.”
Madison has been involved with Paul for two years, and a
little over two years with Stewart. Stewart
and Paul couldn’t be more different than
each, except for their piercing blue eyes.
Stewart is a workaholic. He never
takes time off from his work. His work
is the absolute most important thing in his life. He lives and breathes work. He is rich and treats Madison with expensive
gifts and a car. He is much too involved
in his business to take time away for a relationship. Madison practically has to schedule time to
see him, but she doesn’t mind. She loves
how devoted he is to his work. It’s part
of him that she loves. Yes, she loves
him.
Madison has a very strong sex drive. It is so strong and Stewart worries about
Madison having sex with strangers when he isn’t available. He encourages Madison to find a boyfriend to
fill her needs when he can’t. WHAT??? This is not another typo…Stewart wants
Madison to have a man on the side to have sex with.
Paul is sex on a stick.
He may also be a marshmallow because he is soft and lovable. I loved him from the very first lines of
meeting him. He is a surfer who lives
freely waiting to catch the next big wave.
Paul’s income relies upon him winning tournaments. Paul isn’t concerned about the future and
what will happen when he can no longer surf.
Paul lives for the moment. In
this moment, Paul loves Madison and will do anything to make her happy, even if
that means letting her go to Stewart.
Madison loves Paul. It wasn’t
supposed to be that way, but over time
she has given him the other half of her heart. Oh, I forgot to tell you that Paul and
Madison live together.
“I understand that
you hate me. That you curse me for my
greed. But if I am okay with it, and
they are okay with it, how is it anyone else’s right to judge?”
Whereas Stewart can never put Madison first, Paul will
always put Madison first. Paul is so
sweet and so gentle. Why can’t she give
all of her heart to him? Why does she
make him worry that someday she will leave him behind ? (I am Team Paul…can you tell?)
“I think she knows
how much I love her. How much my chest
expands to a point of pain when she smiles.
How I ache when I leave her, how my hands shake when I finally get to
touch her again. She is my everything I
don’t deserve, and everything I could ever hope to attain.” -- Paul
Madison has been very careful so that her two worlds
never collide. The men don’t know each
other’s name or their occupation. It
all comes to a head when a necessity arises that involves both men coming face
to face with each other. It’s an
all-out battle, pull out the stops, puff out your chest battle as to which man
can declare they love Madison more and who needs to step aside. Is it really their choice to tell Madison who
she gets to love?
“I don’t want her
to choose me because she can’t have me.
I want her to choose me because I am who she wants. That’s what’s important, her happiness.”
Do I even need to tell you which man spoke the above
line? It’s the one that puts Madison’s
happiness first.
I LOVED this book.
I adored Paul and I even warmed up to Stewart when he was forced to
admit his feelings. I actually thought about this book long after
I had completed it.
