Confessions After Dark picks up right after Angel After Dark. Alex Avery and Angeline Hemming are still exploring their feelings for each other. There is an intense amount of chemistry, but they also enjoy each other's company. This story is told in both their POV's so the reader can be privy to both of their thoughts.

She wished time would stop and the world would go away. In this man's arms, she found solace and ecstasy like she'd never known. In this man's arms she wanted to give like she never had before.

Unfortunately, Angle is being threatened by Mark Swanson, a successful business man who may have sexually assaulted his own step daughter. Angel is determined to make sure that he pays. Alex is slowly taking Swanson's business empire apart, bit by bit, and this is only adding fuel to this demented maniac's fire.

Swanson is growing more and more bold with his threats to Angel, and when Alex is away on business he strikes while she is alone in his house. Alex's dog is his pawn in order to drive home that he can get to her no matter how tight security may be. Alex is alerted that something is wrong with the security, but Angel won't admit that she was in danger. The only one she opens up to is Kenneth and he is more than aware of how much danger she is in. He cares about her as an expert witness in this case, but he also has romantic feelings that have not gone away.

Angel is convinced if she stays aware from Alex, he will be safe. So she pushes him away and breaks his heart. Alex knew he was falling for her, but when she breaks things off he is so hurt, his work suffers. He will let no one near him. But he is obsessed with keeping her safe and has security on her night and day. And she will need it, as Swanson is growing more daring with each attempt to hurt her.

"So sorry if I've inconvenienced you, but since you're not my husband, or even my boyfriend, stop with the inquisition." There really is no point in continuing something that was doomed from the start."

Alex and Angel are both hurting, and do things, stupid things, to wound the other. When Angel appears with her old band mates from Archangel, Alex just about flips over Kyle and the attention he pays to her. Alex's retaliation wanted me to do bodily damage to him, as Angel crumbled in a heap afterward.

"Goddamned right, I did!" he railed. "I wanted you to suffer like you've made me suffer! You're dragging me through hell!"

Can these two stop the secrets that are tearing them apart? This series continues to keep the reader's attention, and I can't wait for the next installment.

EXCERPT:

“Mmmmm… ” Alex murmured. The sound of his voice begged her to push the door open further. The smooth mahogany gave way beneath her trembling fingertips to reveal a lone figure sprawled face down on the bed.

Angel’s breath left her lungs in a grateful rush as she leaned on the doorframe, hands reaching out to take her weight. Relief washed through her. He was here and he was alone. God help her, that fact was just as important.

The sheet was falling low on his waist, clinging precariously to the curve of his butt, the strong expanse of his shoulders presented to her below the dark hair. It looked longer than she remembered, and she stood there, willing him to turn so she could see the lines of his face. Her lips parted to call his name, but he stopped her by calling hers first.

“Angel, don’t do this.”

She gasped softly and moved to the side of the bed, crawling gently onto it to kneel beside him, her rear resting on her feet. His scent surrounded her, a mixture of musky cologne and Alex. The skin, molded over the strong contours of his back, fascinated her. She wanted to touch, to feel the silken texture beneath her fingers, to run her nose down his spine, to taste the salty tang on her tongue.

Angel was falling apart, her weakness overwhelming her. Earlier, she’d fought ruthlessly, but now, she had no fight left. With Alex, she wanted to surrender. The truth of it was undeniable.

“What am I doing?” she asked softly, reaching out to smooth her hand over the back of his head and down the strong muscles of his back. He was warm, a sharp contrast to her own skin, and the familiar electricity ran between his flesh and hers—tangible and alive.

Alex shifted, turning his head toward her. He was still sleeping, his features soft in the dark blue glow of night. “You deny us..."
