Blog Tour: Friction by LD Davis

~ Synopsis ~

Noa was trampled and nearly killed by hundreds of horny female fans at a concert for a band she didn't even like, but Alden, the bad boy lead singer of the band, saved her from the trampling tramps. Alden is used to getting what he wants, especially women, but Noa can't stand the cocky, pelvic thrusting rock star.

Noa reluctantly becomes friends with the rocker, under one condition: He promises not to try to have sex with her. But he didn't promise that he wouldn't do other things. Alden's musically talented fingers are capable of playing more than just a guitar...

Reluctantly Noa goes on a fundraising music tour with Alden's band Friction. She soon begins to realize there is more to the rocker than sex, music, and his arrogance. But by spending time with one of the biggest superstars in the world, Noa finds herself in the spotlight, illuminating secrets she thought were hidden forever.

Excerpt

“You’ve been trying to control me since the concert,” I said as I snatched my bag off the back of my chair. “You didn’t like that I didn’t like you, so you were going to try to proselytize me into liking you by kissing me.”
Amusement twinkled in his eyes and a corner of his mouth pulled up. “Proselytize?”
“I am not halting my rant to explain to your tiny brain what proselytize means,” I snapped. “While I was unconscious, you went through my phone! You put yourself in my phone, like you assumed that I would ever want to call you.”
Alden sat back in his chair and casually crossed his arms across his chest. I tried not to let my eyes linger too long on the tattooed muscles.
“Do you know how many women would gladly go through what you did to get my phone number?” he asked smugly.
“Trust me, Breck, I’m not one of them.

4.5 Star Review by Jen Skewes

LD Davisis one of my go to writers.  I first read Accidentally on Purpose, where Ms. Davis had my stomach in knots the entire time.  Ever sine then I was hooked.  I love her writing, love the drama and angst that she creates, but I also love her characters.  And I absolutely loved Friction.  I think it was a little different that her other books.  There was a bit of humor in the form of a cocky, arrogant, rock star who could be a complete ass at times but who also has the biggest heart.  He made me laugh, and made me swoon.  And his name is Alden Breck.

Noa was in California visiting her best friend after her wedding.  Her friend basically made her go to a Friction concert with her.  Noa had no interest in going.  It wasn't so much that she didn't like their music or concerts, it was the lead singer that she hated.  She didn't even really know him other than how he is portrayed in the media.  But as far as she is concerned he is cocky, obnoxious, arrogant and a man whore, which really isn't too far from the truth.  When she gets trampled on at his concert she finds herself waking up in a hospital bed and face to face with Alden himself.  He may have saved her life but she still doesn't like him and actually wants nothing to do with him.  But Alden is not having it, at all!

Alden can have any woman that he wants.  And he has had many women, but there is something about Noa.  He first noticed her when he was on stage.  Maybe it was the scowl on her face that intrigued him but either way there was something about her that made him want to get to know her.  Now of course he wants her in his bed but it really is more than that.  He makes a deal with her.  He just wants to be friends and he will not push her to have sex with him.  Just two people getting to know each other.  Whether Noa agrees to it or not she really has not choice in the matter.  Because Alden is relentless.  After spending a few days together Alden asks her to accompany him on his musical charity tour.  While Noa doesn't exactly want to spend time on the road with Alden she has to admit that it will be good for her career.  There is no denying that Alden is drop dead gorgeous and he does things to her that no other man has ever done.  But she still doesn't want to go there with him.  She cannot be more than friends with Alden Breck.  Or can she?

I loved everything about this book.  First let's talk about Alden.  He is certainly cocky and sometimes he made some bad mistakes but I still fell for him.  He made me laugh at times. His cockiness coupled with his flirting and his big heart just made you fall in love with him.  You could see how much he wanted Noa in his life.  How different she was to him.  He had his really sweet moments with Noa.  And within the love story between these too there is also a part of Alden's past that I do not want to give away.  But it shows how big of a heart he has.

Noa had a rough childhood and the last few years were just as hard with an abusive ex boyfriend.  She is attracted to Alden and begins to see the real him beneath all of the arrogance.  She starts to open up to him in ways that she has never done before with another man.  But being with Alden Breck also means being in the spotlight.  And Noa's past may not be something that she wants to share with the world.

Noa and Alden were so cute together.  And I know he is a sexy rock star and maybe cute isn't the right word to describe them but in my opinion they were.  I loved the back and forth banter between them.  Noa was the one woman who knew how to handle him  She didn't take his shit, even if she tended to just melt into a puddle at his touch.  I loved watching the two of them falling for each other.  There was some drama and angst to keep your heart racing and moments where my hurt heart for the two of them.  I wanted to see them find their happily ever after.  Alden Breck completely captured me from the very beginning when he saved Noa's life.  A part of me loved the cockiness in him but I also loved the sweet side of him.  Another fantastic job by Ms. Davis!!
