I have been anticipating Danny and Skye’s Story ever since I got a glimpse of them at the end of the last book of the MC Sinners series. Danny is Spike and Ciara and Skye is Cade and Addison’s daughter. Danny is in line to take over as the president of the club. This is the opposite of what Skye wants for her life. She loves Danny, but she wants to travel, and have a career but most of all have a life for her children without the worry of another club’s retaliation. Danny can promise to try to keep her safe, but he can’t guarantee that he can do that. She’s made the decision to make a life away from the club. Danny is hurt but he can’t change her mind. Skye thinks he is putting the club before her, and he thinks that she won’t be happy living a life without the club.
I know he’d wait for me if I asked him to, but I’d never do that. He deserves to be loved, to be happy, to have a loyal old lady by his side.
I can’t be that person.
Club life is all I know, but it isn’t all I want to be.
Both try to move on from each other. They never admitted to any of their family or friends that they were move then just each other’s best friend so the lose is even worse. But Skye is doing her best to move on and has even started dating. She tells herself that she wants Danny to find a girl who will be his old lady and would be more suited to the club. Sure she does.
“I can give you it all, Skye. I can give you everything you want. I can take you around the world. I can give you babies. I can give you your white fuckin’ picket fence.”
Can I please shake some sense into this girl?
We may tell ourselves that we wish someone else the best and maybe we mean it but if there is still love aren’t we the best for that other person? Skye can talk herself until she is blue in the face but she needs Danny and still turns to him as “her person.” But what if he moves on just like she told him to so many times?
“I just got in a good place.”
I meet his eyes now. “I know that, and I’m sorry.”
“I just got in a good place, and you came in and fucked it all up.”
I flinch. “That isn’t what I was trying to do…”
“Weren’t you? he snaps.
Just about now my I’m dying, my heart is breaking and I have to put down the Kindle. Oh, Danny I could smack you right at this moment.
“I can’t do this anymore, Skye.” His voice is a pained whisper.
“Can’t be your punching bag.”
How can this work out? Can I forgive Danny? I know, it’s not for me to forgive him, and maybe he doesn’t need forgiveness but he is hurting my heart and I know he is hurting Skye. Make it stop!!
“Danny,” I croak, my back hitting the wall.
“You mess with my heart.”
“I know, and I’m sorry.”
Can these two ever find a way to make it work? She wants a life free from the club’s worry and he wants to finally take the place in the club he’s been working towards most of his life. They’ve hurt each other so badly.
“But you can make it up to me.”
My eyes narrow with confusion.
“Get on your knees,” he demands.
I blink. “Pardon me?”
“You heard me, baby, don’t pretend you didn’t. It’s time to make it better.”
Oh boy, you couldn’t pry my Kindle away from my hands!
“I’ll be happy if you give me smartass every day for the rest of my life.”
