Release Blitz and Review: Resuscitate Me by Leddy Harper

Blurb

Suffocating
I never knew I couldn’t breathe,
Until he forced air into my lungs
Gave me reason
Showed me life.

Carter Hastings was only supposed to be a fling,
A summer of fun, excitement, pleasure
And, it was…
Everything.

It’s hard to walk away,
To leave the one man,
Who resuscitates me.

But I did.
He didn’t reciprocate my feelings.
He didn’t love me.
Not now.

Not ever.

Review by Jen Skewes

Leddy Harper is one of my go to authors.  From the moment I first starting reading her books I always look forward to what is next.  When I finish one book I need to know what's next because after some time I need my Leddy Harper fix.  I also very rarely even read the synopsis because truth is I'll read anything she writes.  The first thing I knew about Resuscitate Me was that it had an extremely hot cover.  But I also knew that this book would be a bit different from the emotional books that we are used to from Ms. Harper.  And once again she completely killed it.

Kara is staying with her sister-in-law for the summer to help out with her nephew while her brother is overseas.  While at the gym one day, she runs into Carter Hastings, complete alpha male.  Kara had no plans of meeting anyone while she was here.  She knew she would be leaving in a few months to go back to her regular life.  But she could not deny how hot Carter was and had some trouble staying away.

Carter doesn't do relationships either but when he sees Kara at his gym he can't help but notice her and how hot she is.  They form a friendship that turned into friends with benefits.  And that's all it is. Sex and nothing more. No feelings, no relationship, just two people enjoying casual sex with each other.

When the summer comes to an end its time for whatever it is between these two people to end as well. Not long after though something happened that completely changes everything. It's almost as if this lightbulb went off and made these two see that there was so much more to their relationship than sex. But that doesn't mean that it will be easy for them or that Kara  will just accept it all and jump into a relationship with Carter.  Will he be able to win her heart?

As I mentioned earlier we are used to the emotions that Leddy Harper can always bring out.  I find myself preparing to read her books with tissues in hand. But this book was very different than her usual stories. For one Carter was a complete alpha male. To the point where I questioned whether I should love him or be mad at him.  To say that he completely frustrated me is a complete understatement. But truth is I did love the guy.  He had a hard time with feelings but deep down he had a heart and let's not forget the really sexy side of him.  My God this man knows what he is doing, talking dirty, being in control, sex on a stick hot!!!

I loved Kara but she was just as frustrating. I loved the sexual chemistry between them and the flirting.  But the back and forth between the two of them and their feelings gave me whiplash, to the point where all I wanted was to just yell at the two of them to just admit how they feel already.  I think they were both guarded in ways but it causes them to completely turn off their feelings or completely ignore them.  But regardless of how  frustrating they were,  I was rooting for them because they did belong together.  And I loved the two of them.

Resuscitate me is sexy and fun but Ms. Harper did manage to throw in some emotional moments in there.  The first half was all hot and sexy and then when you are questioning how this story will go she throws in a twist that I did not see coming.  And that's when this story becomes more than just the sexual chemistry between two peoples.  We start to see feelings and emotions come into play and I loved it.  I loved the ups and downs, the roller coaster ride of emotions, the hot sexy scenes and overall just everything about this book. Once again leddy Harper has created another fantastic story.

EXCERPT FROM RESUSCITATE ME

“Look at me,” he ordered again in that rough, no-nonsense tone.

I blinked and focused on his eyes. His pupils had dilated so much they practically swallowed the green. “I can’t…” I whispered in what sounded to me like apologetic shame. “I can’t…”
He finally released the pressure against my chest, but I was unable to catch my breath. Instead of keeping me restrained between his hips and the mirror, he grabbed the back of my thigh and lowered me to the floor. Except, I wasn’t on the floor. I stood on an aerobic step that had to have been at least four inches considering the height advantage it provided me.
Again, he kept me immobilized and mute.
He wrapped one large, rough hand around my jaw. Four thick fingers extended along one side of it. A thumb dug into my cheek with my chin cupped in the web between them. He used his hold on me to tilt my head back until it fell against the mirror behind me.
My voice, my heartbeat, and my ability to breathe—gone.
Stolen.
             Silenced by his hungry gaze.

About Leddy Harper

Leddy Harper had to use her imagination often as a child. She grew up the only girl in a house full of boys. At the age of fourteen, she decided to use that imagination and wrote her first book, and never stopped.

She often calls writing her therapy, using it as a way to deal with issues through the eyes of her characters.

She is now a mother of three girls, leaving her husband as the only man in a house full of females.

The decision to publish her first book was made as a way of showing her children to go after whatever it is they want to. Love what you do and do it well. Most importantly Leddy wanted to teach them what it means to overcome their fears.
