Review by Lisa Kane

I have been waiting for Shaelyn and Garrett's story after On the Way Down left us dangling on a big old cliff.

These books are not stand alones, and you would be totally lost without haven't read the first book.

Despite numerous odds, it seemed like Shaelyn and Garrett would have it all-a life together, fame, money and most of all a family. When they suffered an unspeakable loss, Shaelyn totally shut down and made it clear that she was going it alone without Garrett.

Garrett has never, for one minute considered his marriage over. Shaelyn may have instigated the divorce, but Garrett has found the woman he wants to spend his life with and he takes his vows seriously.

We were trapped in the gray space tragedy left in its wake, and I didn't know how to get us out.

Since we have both POV's, we have insight into both their pain. Garrett relies on those around him for strength, whereas Shaelyn coils her feelings and grief tightly within herself.

When it came down to sinking or swimming, I sank, which gave you-and everyone else around me-no option but to take over and treat me like a fragile flower.

There is truth to the old adage that sometimes one has to hit rock bottom in order to begin to heal. One tool that helps Shaelyn to recover is therapy. Hard truths must be faced. When she thinks she can't hurt anymore than she does, she finds that there is a certain beauty in pain, feeling that hurt means she is still alive. Shaelyn does a lot of growing up in this story.

Make no mistake, there are some parts of this book that will make your eyes wet. There are raw, intimate moments that will rip right into your gut. I live for these kinds of books, the ones that take you into a different world. That make you feel things, that make you experience what the characters feel, that take you away.

I choose you. I choose life. I choose love-our love-and I'm going to fight my way back to you.

USA Today Bestselling Author Ella Fox has learned a bunch of stuff along the way but the most important of all those things is that anything is possible when you try. In 2012 she took a big leap of faith and published her first book, Broken Hart. Since then she’s written fifteen more full-length books and several novellas– and every one is a reminder that you can live your dream as long as you work for it.

Ella’s favorite things are music, movies, traveling, The Foo Fighters and, of course, reading. This isn’t a surprise considering the fact that her mom is USA Today Bestselling Author Suzanne Halliday.
