I think I enjoyed this book even more than the first one. For me I'm not a fan of characters as children, I like the adult drama.
Harley and Jackson's story is told by way of going back to the past and then in the present. At the end of the first book, Harley literally caught Jackson while he was doing the deed with her nemesis Willow. That just about cut out her heart Jackson had stupid vengeful reasons for screwing Willow, but he never saw past the anger he was feeling. Now he can't even get her to talk to him. Cash, Dylan McGraw's son is getting closer to Harley his best friend. Of course Jackson hates his guts.
As the months go on, things slowly change for Jackson and Harley, but of course Jackson is still tormented by his worry that he will inherit his mother's dementia. Not being able to move past this, stunts any real growth he can have with Harley.
Let's just say when this story starts out, it's apparent that at some point Harley and Jackson got back together because of the ending of Hated You Then. Jackson is about to sign a multimillion dollar deal to play professional football and yet these two are still at each other's throats.
I'm not going to dive into the plight any further. Some of the characters are real disappointments. I'm not a lover of Cash, although I have made love for his father, Dylan (his and Aubrey story-Undo Me, is one of my favorites!)
When the truth finally comes out and yes there are many truths to be revealed, there are still some unanswered questions. Remember there will be books to follow. I hope they meet or exceed the writing in this one because I loved it!!
