Our 4.5 star review

True Love Story is Willow Aster's debut novel and I absolutely loved it.  It is a story of second chances and forgiveness.

It has been two years, ten months and five days since Sparrow Fisher had her heart broken by the only man she has ever loved, Ian Sterling.  And here she is about five seconds away from running into him.  It has been a little over a year since they have been face to face with each other, but when they see each other again the sparks, and the intense love that they had for each other is still there.  As the reader you can feel how strong their love is and want to keep reading to find out what broke them apart.

True Love Story starts out with Sparrow and Ian's reunion and quickly goes back in time to five years ago when they first met.  Sparrow is the daughter of a pastor and it seems like her life is mapped out for her, well at least her love life is.  She is dating Michael, who is hot, and sweet and everything she should want in a boyfriend.  While on a lunch date with her parents and their close friends, Sparrow meets Ian Sterling, the musician she saw play live years ago, and who she has been searching for since then.  The chemistry between Ian and Sparrow is instant.  Ian is sexy, and hot and knows how to flirt and say all the right things.  The only problem is, Sparrow has a boyfriend.  Sparrow knows that Michael is good for her but she just doesn't love him the way he loves her and she is certainly not ready for marriage.  Not to mention the fact that there is a very sexy rock star that she can't seem to get off her mind.

Ian Sterling, oh how I love him.  He is sexy, and sweet and a little bit broken and damaged.  He wants Sparrow more than he has ever wanted any woman.  When the two of them are together, it's as if nothing else matters, but then they go their separate ways and Sparrow doesn't hear from him again.  She can't understand why he keeps pushing her away when the connection they have is so real.  Ian wants Sparrow in a way that he has never wanted a woman before.  But he is having reservations about being with her.  Aside from the fact that he is much older than her, he thinks that he is not good enough for her, so he tries his best to stay away from her.  But that just proves to be harder than he thought, every time he sees her he wants her.  He cannot stop thinking about her, and eventually he gives in to his feelings and they agree to give their relationship a chance.

"I love you Sparrow.  You've got my heart"

Ian and Sparrow have a love like no other.  A love that neither of them have ever experienced before.  They have a bond that is undeniably strong and intense.  Their love for each other is tested over time while Sparrow is away at school and Ian is on the road.  Eventually Ian screws up in a big way.  He completely breaks Sparrow's heart and betrays her.   Ian hates himself for what he has done.  He loves Sparrow and would give up everything for her.  He will do what it takes to fix things, and be the man she deserves.  He is determined to prove this to his one true love.

"You were more than enough for me.  I didn't think I could ever deserve you.  With every ounce of breath in me, I wish I could go back and make it right."

What I love most about this book is that their reunion is not rushed, which to me makes this story real.  Sparrow didn't wake up one month later and decide to forgive Ian.  The author takes us on an emotional journey though those 2.5 years after their break up that leads to us back to the present.  In those 2.5 years, Ian pours his heart and soul into proving his love for Sparrow.  He writes her a series of letters that will completely break your heart.  Sparrow is Ian's world, his soul, and the one person who believes that he is worthy of being loved.  As much as Sparrow loves Ian, her heart is broken and she is afraid that going back to Ian will cause even more heartache. She can't forget or forgive him for what he has done.  She tries to move on, but in her heart she knows that Ian is the only one she will ever love.  Will Ian get his second chance with Sparrow?  Is their love strong enough to forget the past and move on to the future, and will they get their happily ever after?  I can't answer those questions, because you will have to read this amazing story to find out.

"I know there are billions of people in the world.  In my 31 years, I have found one who made me believe that I could love, and be loved, forever."

Willow Aster is a talented writer who did an amazing job with this love story.  You  felt a strong connection with the characters from the first page.  This was a very emotional journey which will make you laugh, cry, and break your heart.  Sparrow is a heroine that most woman can relate too and despite his mistakes you will fall in love with Ian.  I wanted to hate Ian so much for what he did but the truth is I just couldn't.  Maybe it is because I felt he was so broken, and his fears and insecurities about not being good enough for Sparrow played a part in his betrayal. But I can honestly say that he definitely proved himself in the end.  The ending was done so beautifully and will leave you with a smile.  This is a must read.  I look forward to reading more from Willow Aster in the future.  A job well done!
